What is the standard Riverbed severance package in the US, or does that vary from state to state? Are thy obligated to provide a severance package to anyone that is being let go or does that depend on certain factors? If i depends, what is the criteria for severance? I really have no knowledge on this matter, so forgive me if I’m asking something that everybody knows.

I worked there for 4 years and got 3 months severance. No check yet though.
If you are in the U.S. but not Cali you got less.
@1083OBOy-3pny you are incorrect, like others have said the max is 2+6.
in CA WARN gives you 2 months. Then it is 1 month per year that caps at 6 months. For example a 12 year ex-employee should get 2+6 months = 8 months.
WARN applies only to California employees which gives you 2 months or 60 days.
Someone told me they only got 2 weeks, is that possible?
I believe the WARN act 2 months is included in the 6-month cap. So if the max is 6 months, it won't matter if you worked for 4 years or 8 years you are still only going to get 6 months.
"you did not get your worth", well, you actually got nothing, is that your worth?
The severance is maxed at 6 months, so in total if you worked for 6+ years you get 8 months worth of salary and COBRA coverage paid for by RVBD for 8 months.
From my contacts within, the past layoff gave each person 1 year per month of service. + the 2 by law. Maxed at 6 months - in addition you got your unused PTO paid out. So if you were there about 7+ years, you did not get your worth - glad I did not wait around for the "severance"
