I was one of the people who left a job that I loved because XRX leadership decided that going with HCL was a wise move and we all knew we were getting fired anyway because of the leaked HCL document. So I am at my new company and found out that we were moving from our current copier/ printer provider to someone TBD. They asked about my old core (COTG) as they knew i used to work there and had them on their list of finalists. I raved about how things USED TO BE before all of this happened, then informed them about the outsourcing of the jobs overseas and how so many employees got screwed over just because ICONN and J-DB wanted to make a buck and executive leadership had no spine or competence to support the worker bees. Happy to report that the list of finalists was reduced by ONE! So happy to do my part to cut into the revenue amounts. XXOO, me.

Haven't heard about the leaked HCL document before. What was that about? Can you post a link to it?
Good for you. Your story is a perfect example the saying that what goes around comes around. When people are laid off or leave XBS because of all of the nonsense, they are going to become employees of potential or current XBS customers. In their new positions, they will be able to influence their new employer's decisions about who to choose for copy machines.
The poor sales people that rewrite deals prematurely, don't care about the margins on the agreements as long as they got their commissioned, and who do not send in clean paperwork. And then they go to other competitors to make more money. They did not seem to care much about the admin people they left behind, did they?
So loyalty shmoy-alty. I would be loyal to my new company. My soon to be old one didn't care enough to watch out for me, so why am I going to bend over backwards and lie to my new employer and tell them going with an old XRX core is a good business decision?!
This is basic stuff. Wow. XRX will feel the pain for their poor decisions. Like the other person said actions have consequences.
No, I couldn’t care less about the sales reps at my old core. My loyalty is to my new company and they are forever grateful I alerted them to this pending disaster of customer service and support. And besides do you know how many sales reps jumped ship years earlier?
Also to Dontbesalty...I can understand some of the reactions of employees that were forced to make a decision to leave because of current events, and help their new company obtain customer business they used to deal with, as it was my experience having 35 years in the business dealing with multiple companies ultimately within the Xerox realm, that it was a regular practice by sales representatives, multiple times a year, to open up the wallets of their former coworkers and take money out of it not giving it a second thought when they left their company for the competition...not because they were going to lose their job but because of greed. We got over it each time and ultimately won much of the business back because we always did the right thing for the customer. My guess is it’s going to be much more difficult to do under the current and future circumstances...good luck with that...
To Dontbesalty: I have done the same thing as the OP and I left XRX voluntarily. I can't in good faith recommend XRX to my new employer. This is a company that does not care for its customers or employees. A sale person who has any respect for his/her customers should not work for the unethical dipshits currently running the show.
@106g2TEA-6gvd Yeah, I’ve thought about it. A lot. I’ve thought about how the sales reps give no ships that many of us will be out of a job soon. Many who have supported them for years. And I’ve thought about how the company I work for didn’t fight to keep us or have our backs. They just bent over and took it and then either fed us lies or offered no communication at all. I might feel bad for the reps if I felt like they cared about me, but they don’t, so why should I care about them? I don’t go out of my way to trash Xerox, but you can bet if it comes up, I will be honest and forthcoming about what this company has done to so many of us.
Another thing that should be done is to alert the media this is happening. Speak to your local newspaper or TV outlets. Everyone in the US hates it when US jobs are outsourced, layoffs hidden from economic reporting, people are made “walking dead” such as with rebadging. Let as many people know this is happening as possible. Tell your story.
Have you thought about how the consequences of YOUR actions isn’t just affecting big corporate xerox? It is going to have an impact in that reps life who lost the deal. People from the cores talk about how you are all family but yet you don’t mind sabotaging a deal for someone who is trying to support their family? Sounds like hypocrisy. You might as well opened up their wallet and taken money out. Don’t take it out on the ones who are trying to still do their jobs just because you lost/left yours.
I think you did the right thing. It was maybe personal for you but it is also ‘just business’. I would have done the same thing. Whether the facts that you relayed had any emotion or not, facts are facts.
Actions do have consequences. If you, as an employee, does a sub standard job, then you pay the consequences financially and on record. Xerox should not get a pass.
Was are you talking about? 'Taking the high road?' By what? Not warning my current employer that going with my former core is a terrible business decision as the finance and administration jobs are going to be done by people in Guatemala without any clue as to what they are doing? That if they want good customer service to stick with a US-based, locally owned operation? This is a prime example of actions having consequences. Xerox and the ACTION to HOSE OVER my old core and all of the other GIS ones by replacing us with dummies from a foreign country. THE CONSEQUENCE will be c-appier sales because word is getting out to customers that this is happening.
You guys have no integrity what so ever!! Karma will catch up to you! Even if you are leaving a job - whether thru layoff or quitting, you must always take the high road! Don't be like some chief executive in the news stating all is Fake News!!
I'm in a similar situation and have been counseling my new employer about some of the shenanigans going on inside Xerox. Was told the other day by the decision maker that a new location was coming online and the print service provider was NOT going to Xerox.
