The company just posted the best operating ratio ever. 59.6% for the second quarter. Thoughts

I can save money on my grocery bills and improve my hunger/dollar ratio by not buying groceries for a month.
You’re exactly right. They’re not the same. You can have less revenue but more profit if the operating ratio is low enough. The goal would be to keep revenue relatively high and the operating ratio low. A higher operating ratio can be indicative of waste or revenue being too low. No doubt all of that is being closely monitored to ensure higher profit.
I think they focus too much on operating ratio and not enough on profit. These two do not go hand in hand. They reflect each other but are not the same.
More cuts, gotta keep driving that operating ratio down.
Funny how they never post how they truly got those numbers and how many employees got let go to reach that number
