I’m a national tech, former L3. Centurylink has taken away standby pay for all field techs. I have spoken to 3 labor attorneys. All 3 said without hesitation that a class action lawsuit should filed looking at the requirements for being on call. I will be sitting down with one of the attorneys tomorrow. Gauging interest on how many would join the suit.

They cut standby pay for all 911 techs and all other techs in Florida. I'm just waiting for it to hit the news when there is a hug outage and no one to fix it.
No standby pay and got a call tonight. T1 down with 24 hour access. Unfortunately I’d had a couple of drinks and wasn’t available to help out. If only there was a way for them to have someone available 24 hours a day for such emergencies? Oh well. Tomorrow is a new day.
Level 3 s—s. Plain and simple. Their management s—s at most everything they do or think. This is in no way a slight to the craft over there but I’m not sure how you guys even existed with this management. Centurylink was bad but this is almost unbearable. God help us all.
We get paid good money. You do not have to answer the phone if you want to live a family life after 5. Live off your 40 hour work week... consider anything other than that a bonus.
If you want, or need more, due to not having budgeted yourself, take the call. Either that, or go find a job with our pay scale, benefits and the fact that a 1/4 of our day is spent behind a windshield.
Dang, talk about entitled mentality... in the words of a famous wise man: Work, and money shall come your way.
National techs are required to be on call and answer the phone or be written up than fired if it continues. We are screwed. I would love for a law suit to be filed against centurylink. We still have not see the official policy changed or an announcement.
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
They can take it away...you dont have to answer your phone. Up to you if you want to take the call but if you do then they win.
New Mexico “on call” is no more except for some 911 techs. They are trying to set up a volunteer list and are working on Local agreements for it. Key is voluntary they can’t force you without paying access device . This is for CWA group.
Montana still has standby pay although it's going away on the 19th except for CO techs on the weekend.
How does Vegas still have it? Was stated to us that this is company wide.
Las Vegas still has standby pay.
Let us know how it goes. All of the field technicians have lost on call pay not just national
National doesn’t have a union. We have to go at it ourselves.
The Union should be all over this, that's what we paid them for right. bunch of golden knee pad people the union officers are.
