I used to work for Riverbed (senior front-end software engineer – I spent 5+ years with the co). Prior to being taken private in 2015 (Thoma Bravo is a private equity company that rolled in), Riverbed was a well-run place to work. It had some excellent managers and the work we did was state-of-the-art

Many of us were laid off in the merger. I cannot say what morale is like there now, but I'm told it was pretty low after the layoffs. I hear there are layoffs this week again. I know there were layoffs earlier this year.

There really weren't many downsides to working at Riverbed (except getting laid off at some point naturally!). Getting sold to a private equity company may have propped the stock value a bit but overall it destroyed this once great company.
