The acquisition will happen this year by a private equity firm who will sell off the brands one by one. If TRU can go out of business, then so can Mattel. The bottom line is that every member of the exec team is woefully equipped to actually DO anything to correct the company. All they do is try to recapture yesteryear when kids played with toys til they were 10. But now they don’t - YET we continue to try and make Barbie “relevant” and Hot Wheels “epic” when their respective core consumers (proven over and over again by research) are 3-4 YEAR OLD PRESCHOOLERS!
