Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Folks who were laid off - where are you now?

Curious to know where the folks who were laid off came from (area/dept) and where they are working now. Did you find work in a related field? Better insurance company? Any advise on good companies to apply for?

Any word of intended layoffs in HIM departments? My department is running out of paperwork to process.

@ZGuktcp-11wgy A few people who have gotten back in have worked directly with recruiters via the recruiter chat sessions. You might want to try that route.

@ZGuktcp-9sev I'd been with the company for six years and I'm in my late twenties

Just as another former employee posted, I was laid off on May 20th - last day June 3rd. I'd performed most of the work for over a year. My program had JUST become automated and although I'm trained to do some of everything, I was the person they let go after JUST giving me stellar reviews. I'd been friendly & helpful, and when it came to my own work I did everything I should have done and then some. I guess they'd rather keep the gossiping slackers on-board. Good luck to them!

With limited options in my area, I decided to reapply to UHC and I'm so SICK of doing video interviews, you all. Like, seriously. Video interviews have led to several interviews with managers but in the end, they all seem to get turned off by the fact that I'd been involved in the layoff. I've encouraged them to speak to my former manager to verify my departure from the company was not performance based, but after a week or so I always get that dreaded email telling me they're moving forward with other candidates. What gives?! I thought, "hmm, maybe they just don't like me!" ... but I've had two managers tell me they love my attitude and my answers & they'd feel I'd be a great fit on their team. I'm beginning to lose my patience and my only other option is to move to a different city for work before unemployment runs out.

Layed-off from QuEST in May. Interviews are currently pending but nothing has come through as of yet. I had to move in with family due to this unexpected occurrence. I'd been a high performer, assisted in the creation of various programs, and got along well with co-workers but still managed to get the axe. Feeling very low (also feeling very used by UHC) but hoping I can find work soon...

I'm happily retired. Got laid off 9 months before I planned to retire on my terms. But I didn't lose financially, and health has improved. Don't miss UHC. I was lucky I was 61 when I got the axe. The layoff was best thing that ever happened. Absolutely dreaded driving 35 miles to and from UHG and going to a job I was doing solely to mark time until retirement. I'm blessed and grateful.

No idea on the downvote either. these are great questions. Take a stroll over to Anthem (Gail B's new wheelhouse) and Humana and they are experiencing the same things UHG is employing in regards to the micromanaging, merging, reorganizing, management concerns. I look forward to hearing from former employees.
