No. You actually go backwards in skill development and become less marketable. Most people who do well after were training or networking themselves for the next step. Be wise.
The dichotomy is that the activity is break-neck speed but the progress is glacial. Because management does not know a strategy when they see it must be re-stated endlessly until they get it. Or until time runs out. And by management I mean 6-8 people at the very top. Some managers do make decisions without them but you can almost count on a rewind.

Commercial and licensing are supposed to be growth areas of Mattel but beware of infighting, back stabbing, incompetency and instability. Good luck with whatever decision you make.
If you enjoy a fast paced work day, look elsewhere, thing happen in an almost painfully slow schedule.
VPs and Directors receive combat pay to be relentlessly crushed between incompetence and hostility.
Morale is really bad. You can’t get anything done. No one has a sense of urgency for anything. People don’t want to help you. Everyone is in their little space and really don’t care one way or the other if you need something from them. No reason to work hard? What for? I’d say directors and above are trying to cheer the troops on, but they keep taking away all our perks. So no one is working their butts off like they used to. That is what I see.
Here's how I would think about it. Remember the last time you walked on hot coals with your hair on fire dragging 100 dead bodies while someone stood on the sidelines and shouted 'faster' at you? It's worse.
the layoffs that happened after the toys r us bankruptcy, specifically in the late spring and early summer of 2017 was bloodshed. It was like the warring factions in GOT. Lots of deep rooted history as to why some groups and people were let go. Top performers who were simply in the wrong group and wrong time had to go. Life goes on.

Mattel offers some great benefits but the business is very unstable. Your happiness will depend on the department you are in, the boss you have, etc. As a new employee, if you're lucky, you may not know the shortcomings right away. I don't recommend it for the long term, but if you need a job, it is not a bad place for a while.
I chuckled when I read “If Groundhog's Day and Game of Thrones had a baby it would be Mattel.“ from my experience it is like this. Same day to day with lots of drama and developments.
What about the UK/ Europe branches
