When I got laid off I was p-ss-d but honestly I’m so glad I was. Barnes and Noble was such a horrible place to work, I’m sad to have seen it go the way it has. What’s the point in making sure magazine racks are stocked and faced properly according to corporate specifications when the store you work at barely has 10 people coming in a day & nobody reads magazines? It’s like everything is run by some strange algorithm?

Well, yeah. That's what the rich do. They usually end up OK--that's why they're millionaires.
Get out now. Don't wait around for the next round of lay-offs. Don't wait for the stores to get pad-locked. There are plenty of jobs out there. It's a lot easier to get a job when you have a job. Keep this in mind. Nobody's safe, nobody is not expendable. When a guy like Demos can end up floating face down in the East River with a knife in his back, do the rest of you think you'll be all right because you can keep the newsstand up to date?
Can’t wait till this train wreck of a company gets what it deserves and goes belly up!

So please my brothers & sisters, save yourself and start the next phase of your business/ work life now, rather than when the poisoned kool aid dries up.
I too was p-ss-d when I was fired (just for having the audacity to work there for a length of time) but it opened my eyes to how real companies run their business. I now have a better position, less strenuous work, less chaos & stress.
A current BN told me I’d get a kick out of this site. So up till now I’ve just read, not posted. But I just wanted to encourage those who remain ( why? I don’t know!) that there is life after BN. Please get out before things get worse. Best of luck to all of you.
