My big issue with this whole thing is how not transparent upper management is. They say "everything is fine" yet this happens, layoffs happen, etc. All while upper management are expensing pricey flights, hotel rooms, meals....and we all get screwed.
I wonder how long we have until Chapter 7 is filed and we lose everything. Then everyone is applying for the same jobs.

Wrong. I have been laid off before so I know what it’s like to go through that. All I’m saying here is Sungard is changing and I like my job here so I’m looking forward to changes. It is now progressive times and company looks like is going with the flow and be more modern.
Don't let Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez get to you. She either is a millennial id--t or a troll trying to piss everybody or both. Besides, safe spaces and nap pods are modern conventions for companies with fresh ideas and a future so you'll never see them here. Don't think our new overlords are going to care much about the emotional comfort of our younger weaker minded millennial employees or the general comfort of the rest of us

Safe spaces and nap pods foster creativity from employees. These are progressive times and the new Sungard will be poised to attract young bright talent. Google work culture will be the role model. My manager wouldn’t give details but his broad description of what’s on the horizon is awesome.

I don’t have details but my manager said marketing is planning re-brand after bankruptcy and Andy and LT will shape company for trends in today’s work environment, the style of google culture with safe spaces for employees and other fun environments, and diverse workforce. The goal said my manager is for attracting new talent for new products. I’m really excited for this new Sungard. We just have to have patience.
@YowwhHm-xze Are you kidding me? If you can’t get a good job after sungard, that’s on you. Plenty of my former garders have landed at nice, high profile companies.
Sungard AS on your resume hasn't been a good thing in this decade. The sooner you get out, the better for your career.
I suggest we all go back and read the posts on this site for the last 12 months, it's not like it hasn't been predicted, exactly what has happened was discussed here months ago. So given the rhetoric on this site in the last two days regarding what's going to happen in the future, maybe one shouldn't assume it to be incorrect. If we go into bankruptcy and they change mgmt team, which they should, that's a signal. If they bring in people who have no background it what we do, there's another sign for what's to come. My advice, learn from Stern's stupidity, don't continue to miss the market signs, upgrade your skills and get certified on public cloud architectures, I'm sure companies need Azure and AWS skills
@YowwhHm-yel it's not the same old product team. Most of the good folks cleared out...
It's a shame that management's blind faith in CSCO has finally come back to bite them. From the abortive 'SDN project', to letting a vendor dictate, and even redirect your strategy (Openstack), CSCO has had a large hand in SGAS's downfall.
What new products are on the near horizon? Who is setting vision for that group? How are they going to compete with DIY when they won't provide DIY DR on the cloud platforms they have? According to my sources, its still the same old product team and they are still behind the market. Good luck.
@YowwhHm-sze The funny thing is that when Andy came in 9 years ago he was billed as the guy to turn it all around. All he did was push the nose down further.
Has Stern and company or anyone for that matter given any feedback on how they are magically going to turn this around? You reduce your debt but that's only a band-aid on the bigger issue of that we are lacking in innovation, so how are we going to proceed? Which is the issue of if this leads to a Chap 7 filing because it is too far gone.
Here’s what you got to do. Do your job while your at your job. Negativity and ‘woe is me’ wont work for anyone. We will be out of bankruptcy May 2nd. Then you don’t work for a bankrupt company. Expand your skills. Get a certification. Change will come. Colo is a goner. We know that. So update your resume, update your skills, and make yourself more marketable if/when you decide to leave.
The problem with leaving right now is that Sungard is not really a good company to have on your resume right now. Not like it was when I started working here 8 years ago. And even if Sungard was a good company to have on your resume this time last week it is not now. Fair or not there is a stigma associated with working for a bankrupt company. Sungard's failures will be ascribed to it's employees. The perception that recruiters, customers and the industry currently have of Sungard and it's employees could change if we turn things around but right now it is not good to be associated with Sungard
