Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

Juniper needs people that are all in

You know...it's not perfect at Juniper, but every place has it's problems. All depends upon what you're looking for. I will say the constant quarterly layoffs are worrisome, but if you are a high performer in a needed area, then you should be fine. It's important for employees and Juniper that if you are not into making Juniper a great company again, you should leave. Find what you're looking for because it's not Juniper. You will be happier and Juniper will have a better chance of turning around because the person that takes your place may have more vigor. Why put yourself through the agony if you don't like it or Juniper is dragging down your morale? You'll age twice the normal rate being in a job or company you don't like.

Juniper needs people that are all in. And I absolutely agree that some in senior leadership roles need to go because the status quo they want to keep alive goes against trying to turn this thing around. And would frustrate those with ambition and vigor to return Juniper to the great company it once was.

Juniper is not down and out. Juniper has plenty of cash. Juniper has a strong heritage that needs to be resurrected. It can only do this with people bought into bringing back the magic.

Here is my ask... if you want Juniper to return to its greatness, then raise awareness within the company about people, strategies, and process that are failing. Promote ideas you feel will allow Juniper to thrive. I think it's better to go out fighting for what you feel is right than sitting on the side while you are either waiting for retirement or another job. If we start doing this, maybe we won't have posts about poor morale or layoffs....

Agreed, @YfAFq8y-5pvt. Unfortunately, not many will see it this way.

@YmsPHJr I can't blame you for leaving SRX ATAC. Supervisor of that group, JP, is a Grade A dickwad.

OP you need to define high performer. I left atac SRX and the group is struggling. I may not have been as smart as the rest but I was a high performer... Meaning of this: I was always first to say "I'll take that case" even when no one wanted to... And since then morale has been at a all time low because they're over worked and "don't have the bandwidth" I laugh. I'm lucky I didn't get let go but few that were repositioned were the few that were the "yes" people, which is what makes juniper. And I've been with juniper for almost half my life now... Sad. I'm happier where I am. Switching will now thrive again because at least someone there is motivated to fix the problems with Dev.

The good news is...

Juniper already has plenty of people who are all in.

The bad news is...

they are all into themselves!

From RR on down, or you could say, from the independent board on down, they are only taking care of themselves. As a shareholder, what's going on is troubling. If you are not convinced read annual report for 2018.

@YmsPHJr-axm I don't know what to make of your messages. You come across as very naive and contradicting yourself to boot.....I'll take your one statement to argue with you: "If it doesn't turn around, you're out?!" Dude. How many YEARS will it take for you to get the message? This has been going on for over half a decade!

The reason morale is so low is not only b/c of regular layoffs but b/c of the absolute toxic clown show politicism infecting the un-cooperative fiefdoms. There may be few(!) boy scouts that try to do their best, but soon they run into a wall, time and again, until being fired or more smartly leave beforehand (which they do). This is not an outlier thing at J but a daily gnash that has been going on for years and years and years! The company's result: what is currently happening.

If, as you say, you want to raise awareness and naively stir the dust by calling out people to change to YOUR road map of company "betterness" and work yourself to death, the political beast will make sure you're on the layoff list the next go around for not falling in line to the status quo. Only then will you bite your tongue for being such a naive tool.

.....But me thinks you're a political "survivor" at heart and butt lick to keep your seat--at least this wouldn't make you so naive then.

I am the one that wrote the original message. No...i'm not a monitor. No, i'm not in senior leadership, and, i'm not drinking the kool-aide. I've been all over the place in my journey with J. From Eff-it...i'm out. To freaking out because my friends have left, or have been let go. And every time we lose a good one, I become super agitated. And...high performers that were handed a package like @YmsPHJr-kxx only weakens our company as they were doing valuable work. One of my buddies was let go in January and there isn't a person I know that didn't say, "how did that dude get let go?"

We each come here with an opinion. Mine is that I was b--ching so much about J that it was impacting me. I came to the conclusion that I need to either get out and find another job, or s--- it up and take another run at trying to make this place great. I chose to s--- it up and take a run at improving things. And I want to be working with people that are invested in turning this around. And if it doesn't turn around, I'm out (unless I get laid off first). There are reasons to stay and I'm simply trying to share my perspective in case it resonates with anyone.

Juniper needed to cut out the dead wood for sure. But IOP went too far, and sent that company down a path of not innovating and not building what the market demands.

Now though Juniper is cutting muscle just to goose the EPS. This will eventually lead to a collapse in customer and market confidence in the company, declining revenue and resources to invest in the future, and a long slow death of what at one time was a darling of Silicon Valley.

Juniper was a great company. It still has pockets of excellence. But it’s fate is clear.

Yes and guess what to whoever wrote that long boring BS above? I was a high performer and without warning and a total shock, was laid off in January along with many of my colleagues who are high caliber people. I was always loaded with ideas, a team player as well as mentoring. I always believed in Juniper and never wanted to leave. I was very happy in my position. All of us here that were let go, were high performers, great people persons, great with customers with a high customer satisfaction rate from some very difficult customers. Good luck to Juniper if the current dysfunctional Leadership really believe they will be able to replace these same people with cheaper, "yes" persons with less experience who would never question or have a healthy discussion about what is great and/or needs improvement. This was never the Juniper Way until recently. It is really sad. Anyway, Juniper will get what they are paying for and a penny wise will without a doubt become pound foolish.
