Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Ahhhh the lunch topic.

So how many other depots have a hard on for when we take lunch? Always been a hot topic at our depot but today it has more time frames. "You must take it within 4 to 6 hrs of your shift. You cannot take it at the end of your shift". Anybody else deal with this with no explanation? I don't want to hear your union rhetoric either because I've heard this since 2001. Maybe there's some mgt troll here that may give some useless wisdom.

There has been multiple former employees who have contacted attorney’s in regards to this lunch situation. They have received significant settlements from the company due to their highly unethical practices for not allowing techs to take their unpaid 1/2 hour for lunch at a suitable time if at all....

“entitled to" doesn't say you must take it during this time

Wrong if something is entitled it Is a right. So it is the law states you are to take a lunch between 11-2 for an 8 hour day. There is no way to fight this.

The entitlement that you are thinking of more like self entitlement.

Factory Workers are entitled to a 60-minute lunch break between 11:00am and 2:00pm and a 60-minute meal break at the time midway between the beginning and end of the shift for all shifts of more than six hours starting between 1:00pm and 6:00am and lasting more than six hours.

Non-Factory Workers are entitled to a 30-minute lunch break between 11:00am and 2:00pm for shifts six hours or longer that extend over that period and a 45-minute meal break at the time midway between the beginning and end of the shift for all shifts of more than six hours starting between 1:00pm and 6:00am.

All Workers are entitled to an additional 20-minute meal break between 5:00pm and 7:00pm for workdays that extend from before 11:00am to after 7:00pm

@Yjg7Wcq-etc

New York State law says you are entitled to take a lunch between 11-2. It works in your favor and the companies. They say anything to you about taking a lunch at any point between 11-2 but can tell you you can’t take it at the end of the day. The problem is no one sticks together and follows these guidelines.

When it's a hot topic, take your lunch when you're supposed to. Wait about 2 weeks or so and they forget about it and it's back to lunch at the end of the day.

Or, don’t take lunch, but say you take lunch, get your work done, stop crying, and trust ATS to take care of you!

three 8-11's, three 11-2's and 2 2-5's......apparently they'd rather us be late to a job that not take lunch

Why can't you take lunch at 10:30 or at 2?
