Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

More layoffs at home office

Somebody mentioned 500 more people will be cut from Walmart home office this year - is it true? Where did that info come from?

I'm trying not to get too upset over rumors that might turn out not to be true, but since this is Walmart we are talking about, I can't really help myself.

In the GBS layoff, did it seem that older workers were targeted?

There were multiple local articles within NW Arkansas that were written on JAN 25th and FEB 1st 2018 in reference to the two phases of job cuts. But mysteriously you can't find those articles anywhere now. Makes you wonder if Public Relations caught wind of a post mentioning about 1000 associates to be let go in in 2018 and 2019, so they contacted all local media to remove anything related to the articles written. But then again, maybe there won't be any major cuts this year. Who knows? Best of luck and I would get your resume current and start planning your exit strategy.

The link below is remotely close to what was mentioned last year.

Can confirm layoffs in GBS. Not just directors though. I know of at least one full team with the director and everyone under them

@YhoNzld-apb - They were talking about the home office - there is not 2.2 million in the office - Maybe you will be the next rounding error.

Walmart employs 2.2 million people worldwide, and a significant percent of that is always churning. 500 people isn't even a rounding error.
