Is it just me or does this move by VH to get Anadarko seem pretty pathetic? Am I the only one who can't really fathom why they are so dead set on getting APC when there are probably a dozen smaller independents out there that seem to align better with Oxy's current objectives? Not to mention that they're going to overpay for it.

Doubt OXY makes it pass 3 years. Now in the cross-hairs to be acquired.
I fortell that VH will be out within 3 years.
1fer, if the well performance s---s it's likely the result of management or execs pushing a certain agenda to appease Wall Street. We've all seen garbage projects get pushed along to development just because it had some keywords attached to it (e.g. Permian, Wolfcamp etc.). REs and geos are salespeople, they want to get their stuff developed, whether it's 10% ROR or 50%. But if the 50% project is in an area that the investment community doesn't really care about, then maybe that 10% project is what actually gets drilled. To a certain extent that's not really on the technical folks if they've characterized things properly.
@YPPW1g0-jsu ...... APC has better technical expertise ??? Have you seen their well performance? If anything they need to fire their REs. Oxy too has its fair share of stupid REs & geos. Few technical people keeping the company afloat
What small independent holds this much contiguous acreage in the best part of the Delaware Basin? See second picture.

Oxy trying to pay for a good reputation and better technical experience hope they keep the anadarko name everyone hates oxy and their multigenerational bad rep as operator employer and partner
Bless Oxy’s little heart! Desperation? You betcaha!
What's one more catastrophic screw up to Oxys track record?
