Last year, affected people started being notified in April. I wonder if there will be another big round of layoffs this year. With so many good people leaving, will it be necessary? I’m hoping for some good TV.

It's happening now. How do I know? I start getting bunch of Qualcomm folks trying to add me on LinkedIn.
Going by memory, I had asked my manager prior to last April’s lay-off, and he said I could receive a package if I committed to it prior to the announcement but not after. I did not have an offer in hand by then but did soon after. No package for me, but nonetheless have zero regrets about placing QHell permanently in the rear view mirror.
Others have been granted a severance package just for asking. Might not happen often, but it has happened many times.
What would happen if I asked if they are looking for volunteers today? Should I ask my manager or HR? Is it stupid to ask to be layed off when there are no layoffs happening?

@Y92jLOk-ajr - Glad to hear you’re doing something to get out of there. So many people just cry and whine, but make ZERO effort to get out. I’m hoping the best for you.
