Until the Fire Marshall paid a visit and told him he can’t do that and made him move all the curtain cabinets he placed across the exit hallway to keep wandering people from going into the vacant photography and dentist office..
Was the best day seeing those cabinets moved!!!

Lol our Sears manager blocked the doors as well to stop theft. Lp said do it. Both are looking for new jobs.
Here in California a Store Manager did a similar thing. He locked the Fire Door Exit. An employee called CALOSHA and they came out to the store. They made the Store Manager immediately unlock the door and fined the store $5000. That five thousand dollars came right off the top of the store's profits. For the next month, CALOSHA made unannounced visits to make sure the doors were all unlocked. The Store Manager didn't last long with Sears.

@oyv I think I did my job perfectly because I contacted the Fire Marshall to come ask him to take a look at the situation.. he came that morning!
Fire Marshall only came to inspect because there were numerous complaints so wasthe Fire Marshall really doing his job?
@ghg nothing unusual about that. Sears used to have the foot traffic to drive opticians, driving schools, food courts, and all manner of things in store we sublet because our rent was so cheap and we sublet. Many of them ran right up to the minute we declared bankruptcy and then they became part of our creditor list because Eddie screwed them over too.
And not a single associate noticed, or raised their voice?
