Thread regarding Barnes & Noble layoffs

Barnes & Noble Will Succumb to the Retail Apocalypse

"Speaking of bad days, Barnes & Noble. Wow! They may want to hang out with Kroger at the bar. Shares of Barnes & Noble down around 12% on earnings. Sales were flat for the holidays. Barnes & Noble warning that full-year earnings will be weaker than expected. That's not good. "

Investment experts say they should just rent out space at Costco.

Look for more store closings- SOON!

Our DM is in a lot too. Used to be every 4-6 weeks...he’s been in 3 times in the past 2 weeks. He’s not walking the store with the SM , like he used to. They go in the office, shut the door then go to lunch for about 2 hrs. Something’s up.

The people who are left at my store are talking about all of the stuff posted here. No one feels the slightest bit optimistic.

Management hasn't said anything about the lawsuit but then they never mention much these days.

The DM has been in more often too.

"What $$ would Barnes and Noble pay Costco rent with? I am surprised when a paycheck clears every week. They will be paying employees win Barnsie Dollars before long."

Indeed. Way back, when I was in college, I worked in a sub-franchised fast-food place. The manager's paychecks and crew paychecks apparently came from different accounts. The managers started cashing their paychecks out of the bank deposits at the end of the week, because they were worried about the checks bouncing. Not too surprisingly, there was a lot of turnover in management.

So, how long before BN can't make payroll? Because that's the end of the line. How long are those still there going to wait?

I've read the company broke even this past year. That's not good.

"Did they have a big March Meeting yet?

There was a wall street announcement that the board of directors decided on a stock dividend, so there was that meeting at least.

What $$ would Barnes and Noble pay Costco rent with? I am surprised when a paycheck clears every week. They will be paying employees win Barnsie Dollars before long. Got save the cash for the stock dividend these wantabepimps pay stockholders. The $43m they pay in the dividend is like a $70k tax on each store. Think of that the next time they cut shifts to make "payroll".

The Barnes and Noble business plan with this dividend is like pimps paying Johns to sleep with their wh--es.

Dumbest management in the history of capitalism.

“They've put all major renovations on indefinite hold”

No reason to renovate properties you know you won’t have much longer.

They've put all major renovations on indefinite hold. The customers are getting angry because we have no bags to give them and our manager won't order any. Things are going just great!

BN should’ve died by now....

Now when they go out it will be with shame & dishonor.

They were once a great company.

Now, a joke !

I gotta say, we have survived longer than i had expected.

Everything these past few years, has been a bonus, as far as i'm concerned.

Never thought we'd see another xmas season in 2018, was shocked we did.

“Costco gets way more foot traffic. Sales would probably increase. What's in it for Costco though?”

At least the music & DVDs wouldn’t be overpriced!
