Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

Sales meeting is a joke

Anyone else here in Vegas? The atmosphere at this meeting is as if there’s one big huge fart in the air and no one can get away from it. People are drinking (a LOT) and doing the Vegas stuff... but there’s definitely a major undercurrent or dissatisfaction with juniper senior leadership (RR). Would rather they kept the SE’s on my team than blow millions on this extravaganza.

Instead of replacing experienced SEs, some arrogant major account managers should be let go. Did any of you guys hang out with the Verizon account managers at Vegas, after they got drunk and spilled the beans?

Isn't that what VPs at juniper do best? Fart around?

On to more important matters. There is a growing sentiment that the leadership at juniper has a plan to change sales commissions to benefit the higher ranks. This is another reason to get rid of seasoned veteran sales teams and hire novices fresh off the boat. Anyone else hear anything about this?

Yes That fart was me. Sorry about that. I dropped an even nastier one at the VP meetings today.

And that earnings call sounded ominously like last years - “we’ll return to growth in the second half.” Oh boy.

I don't understand. If they're looking for short term wins, laying off experienced people is not the way to go. Noob SEs may cost a lot less, but if they're not even making impact for 3-6 months...wth? It's like RR and team have decided 2019 and 2020 are rebuilding years...but I don't think shareholders are going to have patience with that

This has to be RR's last SKO (at Juniper). BoDs will soon replace him.

Can't wait to have the new CEO clean out the toxic waste dump from sales and marketing, to research and development in JDI.

Sadly, RR was able to get rid of Sheygan Kheradpir, and even not pay his bonus, and look where that took us. Not paying the sales bonuses will have similar consequences.

So shouldn’t VS be ushered out the door with his mentor? I don’t believe it!

How do these pricey Sales PoWows help the bottom line?

Sales people just saw their commission structure messed around with. Don't you think they have their racing shoes laced and already on the track waiting to leave? How can you compel them to stay loyal when their paystub has detrimentally been messed around with?

Don't you think these millions of dollars could have been better used to retain top workers from leaving?

When you lose your best to attrition or layoffs, you cut your hand.

There's a reason why other companies pay top dollar to top talent to stay at the top. Their success illustrates this.

Expect the turmoil to continue XnjFHRg-ipm. VS has plans to attrite the more senior SE workforce (read more highly paid) in favor of bringing in new SE blood (read willing to work for much less) and sending them to a 3-6 months training program. So much for Juniper having the best SEs around....

The PPA mess is a distraction. Most folks I’ve talked with here are more p-ss-d about the loss of good SE’s and architects. Some real bone headed decisions made when laying people off. The implication is obvious. Juniper is now under pressure for short term gains when what’s really needed are longer term insights.

Juniper isn’t going away but we will no longer be differentiated nor are going to be an insustry leader.

Based on what previous sales and SE conferences have run, I'd guess in the $3-$4M range including airfare, lodging, food, alcohol, etc.

Also curious. Any mention at all about PPA? Wonder how much that event cost us. I don't begrudge our sales guys some fun and plenty of alcohol...they're the only ones keeping us afloat at all!

Drinking? Under these circumstances it is not just for socializing or entertainment, it is medicinal. It is a psychiatric aid.

Cheers, to all the sales people who are on the front lines keeping this company going!

I was wondering how that was going. How do they explain what’s happening?
