@XnMKDNX-7tgq I believe you are entitled to whatever severance package you receive even if you get hired by another company. Isn't that what a severance package is for anyway. Of course if you got rehired by State Street your severance package would stop but this wouldn't happen.

If I got a call from STT about coming back to work for them, I would turn them down.

Image you got a 9month to 12 month severance package.

State Street gives you a call about coming back to your old job, you take the offer (yikes)

Then within say 4 months or less they let you go ago.

The one year rule no longer applies - but your severance ends once you return to statestreet.

Great post your 100% right, State Street will hire you again but only after you wait the 1 year period after being laid off.

I had a former coworker actually apply for his old job but turned it down, when he found out he was going to be hired as a newbie at a lower salary and lower benefits.

The rules on severance packages and being rehired after the 1 year period changes constantly

You do keep your severance pay as long as you don't get rehired by ssc. You'd be stupid to come back to ssc as you come back as a new hire unlike previously were they'd bridge your time and adjust benefits accordingly.

I am fairly certain you keep your entire severance as long as the job as external.

I have a question about the severance package. A friend of mine who works in a different dept is fairly certain they will lose their job sometime this year and I do not doubt that. My friend seems to think that if he/she gets another job and not inform State Street they can continue to receive the severance pay without the company finding out. I think they actually monitor these things periodically and if he/she gets caught they are going to regret it. Any thoughts?

I myself expect to lose my job in 2020 and I am going to start exploring other opportunities because I would rather take a job that interests me than receive a 10 month severance and possibly be forced to take a job I do not like just for the paycheck before my severance and savings run out. Most people I know feel the opposite and would rather have the down time and take their chances.

@Post ID: @XnMKDNX-ymn It started slowly in 2002 the layoffs, then each year the layoffs started to increased.

By 2010 many people would come to work physically ill from the stress of not knowing if they were the next victim.
