Hey, XfyDWas-6dbg, are both fiber to the home subscribers now paying the bills? And when the fiber plant is built, who will they turn it over to? I’ll help you out, OSP, because we already maintain a fiber back bone, and have more experience than you know. A year of electrical taping fiber to strand, and less than %50 splicing continuity success doesn’t make you a fiber tech, it makes you easily replaceable. The contractors are already taking your jobs on the build. So get a clue.
I almost fell off my chair when I saw someone post osp is still the meat and potatoes... talk about obsolete. Guys walked around like they were something special, now they know how important they really are
Amen Brother !!!! We are covering more and more with less and less !!!! They say they going to replace some of whom have left ??? Hasn’t happen yet !!!! And they preach safety but send us out all alone !!!!! We used to be on a few times a year now it’s every 3 weeks ... so FS tech when your ready we will gladly welcome you to the rotation
An experienced OSP tech who is currently on call covering 20 towns at once due to lack of manpower shouldn’t need to step aside for anyone. Especially for a service tech that wouldn’t be trained and up to speed in 6-9 months anyway. OSP still is the meat and potatoes on the cable dinner plate.
@XfyDWas-1hjw On call is part of the OSP job description but its not supposed to be 12-16 times a year.

Hey, XfyDWas-1uxm, actually that post wasn’t me. I have no idea about the ot the LTA lta guys are doing, let alone who they are. All I know is on call is part of the OSP job description, and wether I’ve been here 5 months or 5 years, it’s plain and easy to see that a guy with 30 years experience, and a 6 figure salary crying about doing on call because of “putting his family in turmoil” is sad, and maybe he should step aside for some one who wants to work.

Yea right, contractors wanna get paid more then we do to run this stupid fiber. Plus won’t put up with the b---s--- corporate says about footage. 3 man crews, yea very safe corporate! This company has you doing very unsafe jobs. There isn’t one FTTH employee that feels safe or the gentleman getting hired of the street with minimal training, then the 2nd week drives without a DOT card or proper training to go up..smh..call OSHA!
You are the same guy who complains on every post about " the lazy plant techs" and "lta" guys who make 200 per stand by week or who make all the ot money or whatever but you have up your butt this week. It is so clear you are a rookie tech most likely less then 1 year, thinking that you are some how being cheated and everyone else has it better then you.
Come back and talk in 10 years when you have actually accomplished something. And do not bother trying to post that you have worked here for 25 years. No one is going to believe you. Stop crying and stop posting too. Worry about yourself!
