Thread regarding State Street Corp. layoffs

So how stupid does a company have to be to warn of layoffs and then expect people to still do their jobs correctly?

I mean cmon how many people are going to even do their jobs correctly anymore? What’s the point if most of the workers are getting laid off this year?

Someone please explain because I feel like I’m not getting all the facts. Why should Jack and Suzy worker bee do their jobs correctly if by end of 2019 they are most likely not going to have a job.

Or are ther that MANY people at state street doing nothing jobs? That in the last 5 years they really did hire over 30% of workers who are paid a lot of money to basically do nothing?

Who checks to make sure i’s and t’s are dotted and crossed? How do clients know work is being done correctly?

Anyone?

We certainly do live in interesting times. And the mainstream media has been talking openly about the fact that we are very vulnerable to an EMP taking down the grid. Heck, even our own government posted a "have 60 days worth of food, water and preps" to the government fema website. I was shocked to see them post such a warning, they know something is coming. I always thought it would be the New Madrid fault line giving way to a monster earthquake, but the EMP is unsettling to say the least.

It's why I don't worry about layoffs... There are far worse things about to happen this coming year...and in years ahead.

Enjoy life now. It ain't looking good in the future.

A know a guy that got laid off last June. He was a prepper and said getting laid off was the best thing that ever happened to him because he is now living in some remote forest near the Canadian border and ready for the future. He said it's not IF an EMP hits, it's WHEN... And he was an SVP, drank the corporate Koolaid for many years.

He told me a lot of other stuff and I believe everything he said. I'm planning on selling everything and moving to the woods as well. I'm actually hoping I get laid off this month so I can hit the road soon. I wish we could volunteer to be laid off and get our severance.

Hey, what is everyone going to do when that EMP finally hits and takes the grid out for good? well????

I’m not worrying about sh--, we are doomed as a society and planet anyway.

"Never hire again", LMAO, who would ever want to work there again after getting laid off?

I'm sure 99% of people there dngaf about crossing their t's and dotting their i's right now. It's every man and woman for themselves in a race to get out of there and find a new job.

It's about finding a new job now, not doing what should have been done ten years ago, ie. Attention to details and not hiring people you don't need...

Can't wait to hear all the stories of everything that never got done, lol.

No one is paying attention to anything. Layoffs have all been determined and layered to happen throughout 2019.

By then STT will be so small it will be acquired for real cheap and they will finish laying off all the duplicate jobs from the buyout.

I'd be looking for a new job stat.

Former worker , and this is the answer to your question about Jack and Suzy.

If they catch Jack and Suzy goofing off, not doing their job correctly.

Then Jack and Suzy will be let go and receive no servance package.

There employee file will be marked with the code (Never hire this person again)

I feel your pain with the quality of work being done in India. I too am fellow coworkers spent 50% of out time fixing the c-appy work done by the staff in India.

And even though we were short staff by 50%, The Mangers demanded (lol) we get the work fixed ASAP.

My motto is the people who did the c-appy sloppy work should be made to do it right, not dump it on the U.S support staff to fix.

I remember when the work done in my dept by U.S workers had a 92% quality rating on the 1st run.

Unlike hmm the 60% quality rating done by the workers in India.

I don’t know what group you were in, but my team moved 50% of our jobs to India and my US team was dying. They faced off with the clients and they had triple the client load they had before. That means, obviously, triple the email volume and projects to track. If that wasn’t bad enough, the work product that came back from the India team was simply awful. I would estimate about 85% of the work done offshore had to be fixed or completely redone by the much smaller US team. So again, I don’t know which group doesn’t have anything to do, but that was not my experience (I was in Fund Admin in Boston)

Cuz maybe they know there is really not that much work to do.

Big brother can listen in your office. They know what and when you do things on your work computer.

It’s clear things are just not that busy at STT.

Well I know of VPs and MDs that have no direct reports and spend most of day going to other people’s offices to chat and then take their usual 2 hour lunch. So yeah. Lotta senior people don’t seem to have that much to do or they get it done by 11 am each day and then spend the rest of the day wandering the halls. These are also usually the people that have been pushed around internally for their entire careers. One day they are working in one group and the next day they are told to go work in another group. They never really seem to be able to tell you what exactly it is they work on, but they always invite themselves to other executives’ meetings. It’s strange. I guess they get to pick and choose what they want to work on.
