Thread regarding State Street Corp. layoffs

Layoffs at State Street have started

It's starting in Quincy already today. 2 layoffs that I know one of so far. It's not looking good for the rest of us since the 2 were the first 2 to arrive at the office today. Good luck to everyone.

Does anybody have any more info on this? Have any other areas been hit by layoffs?

Terrible more lay off people today. Surprised they laid off valuable employee, but keep the lazy people doesn’t do work. Poor management totally blind. Not sure how they determine who go first-not fair! Happy leave find a better opportunities some where else.

I am a U.S born contract worker who worked for 6 months then State Street renewed me for another 6 months.

When I hit the 12 month my contract was not renewed again, the funny thing is I heard my contract position was replaced by a new cheaper contract worker.

So I guess they rather waste valuable time training a new contract worker instead of just keeping me for another 6 months.

If State Street is in a hiring freeze, laying 20% of SVP's and above off, and are trying to cut down on expenses;, why are recruiters still paying to fly people to interview for jobs and telling candidates that there is good potential to be hired?

We used the employee network which was calling people you knew in other departments to see if they had a lay off.

The employee network is the only way you find out who got laid off, may be a person you know or not know.

Remember they try and keep everything as hush hush as possible to fool the workers.

But if you have a job were you have to contact people in other departments this is when the employee network is a good tool.
