Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Did Eddie really make peace with the vendors?

I have to admit that I thought that the vendors, unsatisfied with the court decision, would try to sabotage Sears or at least make it harder for us to operate, but so far I don’t see any problems with the shipments, everuthing seems to be arriving on time. Did Eddie really make peace with them?

It really hurts Kmart more than Sears. Kmart sells daily goods so that needs constant merchandise.

Sears doesn’t sell much of anything outside of appliances, mattresses (because of tax returns) and maybe some clearance winter clothes at this time of year.

It’s gonna take a month at minimum for freight to start flowing. Isn’t gonna happen overnight,

Where is this mythical store that is getting timely stock on time? Are you sure you didn't mean to post on the Walmart board?

In order for Eddie's "Go Forward Plan" to be successful the stores have to be fully stocked as soon as possible and there has to be lots of customers buying merchandise. He can't wait at all. Good luck with that.

No patio furniture was ordered last year for this year delivery. Didn’t you people watch the town hall meeting the other day? We aren’t getting very much for spring and summer because it wasn’t ordered in advance. We might get a handful of stuff if they can get a vendor to send it to us and Sears is priority over Kmart. Kmart is the red headed stepchild even though we saved Sears last time. There is no product to sell to the non customers in the store and on top of it the have jacked prices up ridiculously! $1299.00 for a 19 cu ft fridge, in white! Are you kidding me? Who do they think is going to buy that c-ap anyway?

Our Kmart here started getting 2 trucks. Things starting to roll in and vendors are coming back. No garden though. No patio sets. They told us to close off garden center.

Oh that's what I forget.

They want us to cut hours at any possible chance.

Got told to even calling off appointments for oil changes if it means that we are going to lose money that hour. It's more cost effective to send the technician home and save on payroll vs taking in an oil change that we will obviously lose money on if an up sale can't be made.

Accurate.

Haven't gotten batteries in since before Christmas(no other stores closed around me to get any in). Was told to order batteries from AutoZone and let the customer know we are selling them a DuraShit for the cost of a Diehard.

Been getting a few tires here and there from my local Michelin vendor a few weeks ago however last I heard we are now cut off again.

Oil orders take a month to get in. However, once again, we are now shut off from Valvoline in Ariba. Was told to order STP boxes from AutoZone, even though all of our displays/content show Valvoline.

Was told we are done with regular merchandise, won't be selling oil nor oil filters and other car accessories anymore. Then received a shipment of Diehard floor mats.

Currently no vendors show up in Ariba to order paper, pens and other various needed supplies. Can't get brake cleaner in for the life of me. Business cards can't be ordered right now. There is more however it's not coming to mind right now.

I believe Diehard is going to be pushed huge here in the next coming months. We now have Diehard tires, batteries (kind of. Johnson Controls still isn't shipping to us), wiper blades and now floor mats.

This push will be to increase/pad the brand name in order to increase it's worth when it's sold off.

Just my opinion obviously, however I've been in this too long to say that we are in the clear.

No vendors will ship to sears auto except oil. And that takes over a month to get since we are still cod with them Kind of hard to run a tire store with no tires.

Oh don’t forget Kmart did close a warehouse which will probably mess with stuff temporarily

Yes every big vendor got paid, probably all the smaller ones too (many of which if you look them up you’ll have never have seen their products in a Sears or Kmart).

If there are any shipment delays you’ve gotta figure there’s a few months turnaround for Chinese products. Stuff ordered pre bankruptcy that’s already in the states that isn’t shipped directly to Sears has to be sent to the warehouses then to the stores the sale just closed like two weeks ago it’s going to be a few weeks before things hit shelves.

Even if the stuff was already at the warehouses it’s going to take a few weeks to get everything rolling again because with liquidation bids on the table and possibly winning up until mid January it would have held up shipments because the liquidators would have tried to wholesale the stuff off as opposed to shipping to the stores and selling it at a store level.

Yeah I have heard the same thing about Kmart. They are still not getting money trucks lately.

Maybe things are fine on the Sears side, but Kmart has been suffering a lot.
