Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Verizon looking to acquire Frontier,Centurylink

Hans and company are looking to acquire either Frontier or Centurylink or both to jumpstart 5G and buildout fiber to the home for Internet and phone only. TV is out of the question, but there are hints that Big Red is looking to get into the smart home game. Security, cameras, etc, etc. Union representatives from the company will be handling buoldouts in the newly acquired footprint, contractors will overbuild in Non-Vz areas. EISP will continue to be offered until the majority of pensioned employees are gone.

It’s the only way that makes sense. Contracting 5G is a huge mistake.

@1ijn I believe that's why @dog says "bring it to a pension friendly State" If you're in the Northeast your Verizon pension could be a struggle with the cost of living and taxes. New York is the worst State to retire in.

There are however a good few States that are entirely exempt from pension incomes. Combine that with cost living in those States and the CWA Union member retiring with pension and 401K from Verizon would be living very comfortably for sure.

@XE6iyuI-1mhl

That is your dream.....You've been having the same dream for many many decades now.

The only dreams CWA members are having about Verizon these days, are of them enjoying a full retirement which includes a Fat Pension, a Huge 401K, and Full Medical... The cherry on top is they bring it to a pension friendly State with lovely weather.

Their dream was earned by sticking together and negotiating fairness with the company they help build......Judging by your sad and angry post......Their reality has become your nightmare.

I’m looking forward to this, it’s a solid investment into the industry. Unfortunately, I don’t think Hans wants a proper telecom. He wants to turn it into a cable company. 5G is just a wireless cable connection, nothing fancy beyond it being a hyped up WiFi connection.

Who says these corporate executives " leaders" are a bunch of know-nothing dimwitted fools...First, we sell them the fiber.....then B. we buy it back.....Number 3, we buy the whole damn company!

Now that's leadership planning at it's finest.

Go get'm boys!

Only thing I believe out of this is getting rid of the majority of pensioned employees. That came from the 2003 contract and the temp hiring has been going on for a few years to replace other workers .
