Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Targets rejected

All of my account teams rejected targets. We will lose a lot of staff this week that is how they do the layoff.

Dell was the only company I ever worked for that worked harder not to pay their sales force then to reward them. As said here do a big deal and you will be punished for it for at least a year or more. Their crazy PIP metrics of percentage's that must be obtained qtr over qtr are bogus given that for the last three half I was at Dell the minute any of us on the Networking team got close to making our number we would get an immediate $1-2M in goal added on, with no explanation just here you go.. now try making your number now. Then when you missed you were the problem. Constant reorg also is a tell tale sign of weak lemming management. M.Dell is milking this company for all he can. Buys the most expensive condo ever sold in NYC while he has thousands laid off and he has the balls to call Trump a greedy person. Buys a new private jet while telling employees who do int'l business weekly they must now fly only coach.. The whole buyout funding to the largest part with Dell Corps own money not Micheals was an ego trip . He cold never break into the top 5% and hated those that had now he's there at the cost of the company and the people . He adds zero value to the company, isn't a forward thinker and is allowing or perhaps demanding mediocre management below him either too stupid or willing to kiss his ring while they. tear apart the better companies they bought, and keep the failed Dell model in place. Dell Hell is real.

People leave managers not companies. These all sound like bad management issues not company issues

We are the only company that gets unhappy if sales staff overachieve every few years. One of the managers recently said that people shouldn't complain as they won a big deal a year ago and got paid so they need to pay that back for the years to come.

The best employees resign as they become the worst employees on metrics even though they are bringing the most revenue in. The highest spending customers become poison as the metrics want impossible from them. They fail, head to acquisition and start again years later.

Attrition has started and it's a run to the door. The pay plan is working well

@XDxjgsz-6ymc thank you for proving my point. Basically put up with being paid less or leave.

"@XDxjgsz-4aia you clearly dont work in this geo and dont work in sales"

You clearly assume things and do not know the facts - PC sales @ Dell ?

if your management can't manage things correctly - why not to seek one that does and go there .

I never understood people complaining and still doing as they told - there is other places to work.

There is no such thing as managing deals, the only strategy from management is bring the year forward into one order by dropping price. After years of lean and hard work to bring a large deal in means suffering for years to come as this is now the bar you have for ever.

If you think that is sound management then you'd be great here.

"Ours just came out. 300% increase and no way we will be paid..."

you are poor man - forgot already you were paid 300% of your commission (which is 1.5x your yearly salary) on top of your standard 50%+50% ..

Goal is set correctly - you need to manage it and failing on it won't hurt your pocket - you'd still get ±70% of your OTE for the year ...

Greed ... I hear greed and then complains.

Managing deals and brining them at proper time with bit of planning is standard sales job - never saw one deal to make my year hit 250% of my target ..

do not over perform or over deliver in Dell. you will be seemingly rewarded at first, then they strip you down, load you with everyone else's workload that the others pretend to not be able to do or put any effort in. Dell always kill their best performers with workloads and do everything under the roof approach.

Ours just came out. 300% increase and no way we will be paid. Target was based on my largest deal in my largest ever quarter last year plus growth and now I have to do that every quarter or I will be performance managed. I was told it's because I won a large multi year deal a year ago so they want that money back.

Insane

Some groups are still waiting to get their quotas. They are crossing their fingers that last minute tweaks will benefit the field (them).
