Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

Exec heads need to roll

There needs to be some exec changes

  • sales did not see this down turn at all. Sales leads need to be changed at VP level

  • investor relations has not messaged where the company is going and the stock has not moved much

  • what is business excellence VP and department except a place to keep a person who has been with STX too long

  • STX firmware is terrible and too much turnover.

  • might be time for CEO change. need CEO with a plan

Change the execs or just remove the department and see if anyone notices

any other changes?

Head if sales and plm has now departed. Not sure of the story but since it is end of quarter it must be a bad Q4 revenue number and someone other than the CEO had to take responsibility. The original posters list seems to be getting executed.

Just looking back at this original post. Changes have been made to investors relations and finance, does anyone know if there have been changes to leadership of sales, firmware or business excellence?

Not knowing when to put old execs with old management styles and ideas out to pasture is also expensive.

Ego's are expensive things to maintain. The people running the company don't work for it.

Business excellence at STX is supposed to be continuous improvement and process reengineering. My old company had this group in operations and they were lean six sigma people and did good work that saved miney At Seagate it look like it is led by someone from a tax background and the staff is not from ops or manufacturing or the business side. I am at a loss as to what they do.

I think it is an organ as someone like an activist investor learns there is 50 cents per share to be found in useless and bloated execs

...save $40 to 50 million

These geniuses got into this mess and I would say that having no one at the top would not have created a situation this bad. Cut those execs and their functions and say $40 to 50 million

Would we not be helpless without all the managers, directors, and VP's to make all of our ground level decisions for us like what kind of font and backgrounds to use on our slide decks? How am I supposed to correctly word-smith everything with a positive spin myself? I might go off half baked and use too much red highlight. See, we really need those guys.
