Thread regarding State Street Corp. layoffs

Contract workers being replaced with cheaper contract workers

I know the company was desperate to save money but replacing temps with temps?

I signed a 3 month contract to work at State Street. After my 3 months was up they

extended my contract 4 more times for a total of 15 months.

After I hit 15 month they did not renew my contract.

Latter on a person who I had become good friends with told me the following Monday a new temp was hired to do my old job. .

Wow !! I guess they found a cheaper temp to replace me (lol)

You mean their sweat and dime? The 732 in income taxes you pay with your husband's salary as a temp doesn't go very far.

You don't like it, feel free to apply.

Same thing happened to my spouse but he works in computers must be standard policy. That’s the future unfortunately all of us left hanging out there no safety net. Should’ve gone into public sector they have all the safety on our sweat and our dime

Okay thanks very much for this update, just I thought it was crazy to let me go after I know the job routine.

Only to have to bring in a newbie and waste time training the person.

Once again thank you just too bad they could not have told me this , instead of me wondering what the heck happen

More likely they just couldn’t extend you Once you hit a year. Common to replace temps with new ones at that point. Don’t ask me why but that’s the policy.
