Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

Layoffs today?

Why are people mentioning layoffs today in other threads? Have I missed something?

The "cleansing" at juniper has started and so far the major announcements has also included the outsourcing of IT operations to IBM. RR will call it something fancy like "resource re-alingnment" or "a techtonic shift in the workforce", but the reality is these were "layoffs". Just another cost cutting measure, carefully timed to cook the books. This time around they affected sales, operations, professional services, support, engineering, marketing and of course IT. These cuts could be perceived as cost cutting in preparation for a merger. However it is much more likely that all this is for the benefit of the earnings call. The truth is there is a little loophole in corporate fiscal reporting where a cost center innitiated back in the time period of the last quarter can be included in the financial reporting for that time period. So all it takes is an email sent in that quarter, on record to say 'we are adjusting the workforce' and, boom, the books can be cooked. This game has been played by CFOs the world over, but non better than the silicon valley accountants.

The bottom line is, we can expect a good earnings report in two weeks despite the poor sales numbers. Chef Miller and team are in the kitchen cooking up a storm to make RR look good. That's what's up!

The details of the Sunnyvale ASIC team death are greatly exaggerated

@X9fEZ6v-wyc, whole ASIC team world wide or in Sunnyvale? I still see them working like business as usual.

@X9fEZ6v-reb, who are you calling "The D:ck", MB?

Renaming all the product to Contrail* is not innovation. It is pathetic for a technology company to operate this way. You are being manipulated by another dumba$$ and you don't even know it.

Get a life, MB. Go do your job.

A couple of folks at the BTI office in Ottawa let go as well - some hardware and software engineers, and PS folks.

I have to admit I’m really fascinated by The D:ck. Call it the Legend of the D--k. It’s like watching Real Housewives. So hard to look away. Damn you for getting me to come back to this site over and over again when I should be off playing cricket against a wall.

Who are you? Someone canned by MJ 6 months ago? Someone who tripped walking up the grand staircase in Westford one day? Roadkill from MB’s blistering pace? RR’s alcoholic half-brother? The VP of Marketing for leetcode? Founder of the lay-off.com?

I’m fascinated by you, Sir. May the Legend continue to grow.

What say you out there, lurkers? Just who is The D:ck?

@X9fEZ6v-wyc Dude. STOP copying/pasting posts from another thread.

There's already another ACTIVE thread on today's layoffs.

It's daylight in other parts of the world.

Per another forum:

1.) EMEA theatre - Sales got hit.

2.) Entire ASIC team impacted

If you see moving boxes as you walk into work today, you will know today is the day.
