To the OP. Get a grip. Family life in turmoil because you have to cover on call? How much turmoil if you weren’t bringing home a paycheck. And you really think a contract will help? Unless we are in the room to voice every concern we have to be written into that contract, nothing can be enforced. And neither side would ever let that happen. Because truth be told, the unions and company have more in common with each other, than they do with us.

Safety? I’ve heard management complain about having to get police detail on somewhat busy roads because of the expense. You think anyone cares about safety. This place is a joke anymore.

We used to roll out two at a time for safety, but those days are over. I guess they’ll start paying for a second guy again when some one gets killed on the side of the road at 3am, or breaks a leg dragging a ladder trough an easement. The truth is they don’t care. No union fixes that, no post fixes that. Just try not to be the one that gets run over by a drunk in the middle of the night!
