Put out a 1-page flyer in the Sunday papers, run short TV commercials, whatever the company can afford to do at this stage - to assure the public that if they buy something, returns / exchanges will still be honored, gift cards can still be redeemed, warranties and guarantees will still be valid. What customer in their right mind would buy a gift, if they know that there may be no recourse if something is wrong with the purchase ?

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Eddie doesn't care about "sales" or CUSTOMERS (NOT "members") It's to his advantage to have a c-appy 4th quarter.
He certainly isn't going to put in writing a guarantee he has absolutely no intention of honoring.
They can't do that because everyone knows it is all over after Christmas.
