Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Anybody else heard about the rumour that PK has hired DeepakChopra to design a "reconnect the company and your desire " initiative for managers?

Sounds fricking crazy but anything is possible these days with the lunatics in executive management

If the market finds out about this the stock can only go lower. As a committed Christian I will not be participating in some airy fairy new age initiative. We need leadership and direction not reconnection

No DeepakChopra hired Paal as a consultant since the Transformation was going so well.

The company is the best run company in the world

The share price and market capitalization is so high

The company has expanded out it sector and developed long term plans leveraging off it excellent, innovative engineers and scientists and motivated work force into renewable energy. Making us number 1 in another sector of the energy industry.

Meanwhile the benefits and total compensation he kept cutting has been restored making slb a desirable place to work

The new board of directors, who were replaced as the previous ones could only see oil and gas, were doing nothing .

Elon Musk invests in slb and has breakfast with him

SLB pension fund is secure

I find it hard to believe that anyone in their right mind or even those away with the PIP fairies, would even contemplate having anything to do with Deepak Chopra. His only claim to fame is that he has made an implausible fortune from telling witless businessmen the startlingly obvious and spooning out huge amounts of non-proven psychologically warped rubbish (rather like E2E....are the instigators of that still employed by Schlumberger?). I have no faith in PK and his bewildered minions but I'm sure that they are not that stupid.

If Deepak can help me get a senior manager position, salary increase, car allowance and larger bonus I would be willing to try this new initiative

Material success is what I desire and is my destiny. This is why I joined SLB

What a f---ed up business model, this is true meaning of poverty. Slb does not have someone think straight and excute a strategy to save a sinking ship, instead they have to pray to a shelter of lazy and superstitious group of loosers.

Karma is coming for the way the company treats its people and all those top down failed culture initiatives

Client focused has lost all meaning

I may be stupid but aren't managers and stupidvisors employed to............manage?

E2E, 5sigma, transformation, blue shift, Deepak 'away with fairies' Chopra and all the Woo that Schlumberger trawls up should not be necessary if you have dynamic managers and supervisors who shouldcare more about the company than their sorry backsides and screamingly high PIPs.

Paal, read and digest; your VPs, managers and stupidvisors have failed you and your investors. Karma approaches in front of Ginnungagap and Vanir. Odin, Frigg, Thor, Loki, Balder, Hod, Heimdall and Tyr will be asking hard questions.

If he really do this i have to say it tottaly bsht. Team driven is the first statement line in job description for manager position and will be dicussed during interview. And now slb have to hire someone from out side to do it. He admit manager can do their job but he disagree it manager failure. This could be a quick fix and wait until he retire. I dont think slb will go anywhere in next 10 years

When I first started working for SLB wireline, I was impressed by the culture. It was the customer first, then the engineer who was engaged with customer, with everyone else second, including management; everyone not engaged with the customer is just there to support the front line people.

At the same time the engineer was both empowered to deliver but also responsible for delivery. If they failed, customer not happy, then they are to blame.

Likewise with change to succeed it needs to be a bottom up approach. These initiatives driven from the top can only been seen as initiatives directed to appease the board and shareholders.

The VPs of Schlumberger will never understand.

They don't need transformations, E2E, blue plans, 5S or a Master conman of Woo and spiritual nonsense. They do not need myriad PowerPoint presentations or masses of staff who do not contribute actual revenue. All they need are managers who SHOULD know all the answers to Engage2Excel and all the other misguided initiatives. Managers who can implement safety policies and housekeeping policies without having to resort to employing staff or contractos to show them what to do and which direction to steer. They need planners who can intelligently and fiscally produce the right item at the right time and not overstock massively because of over-ambitious guesstimates.

The car manufacturers do this and do it very well and before any cheerleaders jump in....the oil industry is no different although the service companies will claim that they are , it is not rocket science in the hands of the correct staff.

If I was the financial director of one of our large US investment funds, I would be forcibly asking the above-mentioned. Schlumberger, in spite of their commercial arrogance, have got the market and economic future hopelessly wrong and the swamp needs draining quickly. They need to stop glossing over the lack of management competency and stop handing out PIPs for no real benefit. It is highly unlikely that a redundant manager would get an equivalent position with equivalent salery in another company as they would not pass an interview with the usual corporate bull.

Great companies don’t become great companies by focus on profits

They become great by focus on people and clients

Great profits emerge as a consequence of the above

It seems we need Deepak to teach us this????

As a believer of a Magic Sky God, I too believe that a rapturous day of salvation is ahead of us, and that when I die, he will take me in his warm embrace and save my eternal soul because he is watching us. All of us. All the time. Keeping track of whether we're naughty or nice. 80 years will determine whether we're condemned to trillion, or even quadrillions of years of eternal or salvation or damnation. Because he is a jealous God. That's sane. Very sane. Praise the Lord!

I'm scared.

Deepak is a fake guru and he invents all kind of so called spiritual science to sell his books

How will this help us keep our jobs and improve our morale?

Could this be the spiritual transformation of the company? Wow what next from our fearless leader?

PK needs a new medication and we need a new CEO. Nothing but pencil whipping to get a PIP for far too long. But I don't mind the free paycheck checks. Keep them coming. Could you speed up the internet PK? I am bored.

Yes it’s building on the engage to excel program and something PK picked up from google. I think the initiative is being called “desire for success” or something along those lines

It will include mediation classes for employees

Pretty new age stuff and all the tech companies in California are already doing it and PK sees an opportunity to enhance the moral in the company
