Thread regarding Sears layoffs

The amount of discontinued merchandise is staggering

Assuming a miracle happens, and SHC somehow survive bankruptcy, what is Kmart going to sell?

I was doing gap elimination in auto/sports/DIY and pantry the other day and noticed that 95% of the merchandise was "discontinued" and missing order points.

We were also informed that after the holidays, we are moving electronics to a single quad and DVDs will no longer be sold. Appliances and mattresses are going away. DM said it looks like the new focus is homegoods and clothing... but with nothing to fill the space up with, what do we do with the empty spaces? Pantry is already only half-full, even with all the christmas popcorn tins.

"Is everything Kmart's getting just emptying a distribution center?"

Yes. Several people reported here recently that their stores were receiving expired food/meds and years-old electronics.

Has the company supplying pallets of off-brand TP and paper towels finally cut Kmart off?

Our store is completely devoid of auto and sporting goods. Tools is pretty full, but why go to Kmart when you can get the full line of Craftsman at Lowe’s down the road?

The food side of pantry looks awful. Pepsi and Coke no longer supply to us and so it’s just a wall of Smart Sense bottled water and soda that’s short-dated.

The only departments that are full are dosmetics, fashions, and shoes. And they’ll stay full... our loft is full and we’re glad no more palletized merchandise is coming in because there is no room in receiving because it’s full of hangwear we can’t fit on the floor.

Our manager wants to move a couple of the toys down once appliances sell down so we can put out more clothing racks. She would also like to condense the candles/art/frames/rugs aisles to make room for more footwear.

We’re choking with merchandise, but the store still looks as empty as ever.

@WrnOLZ2-nxn. Tons of Tide? Are they nuts? Shoplifters paradise, they love that stuff. I guess AP will catch them.

Aside from softlines, domestics there isn't A lot to pick from. Auto is almost dead and hard home empty. Hardware is bare. Christmas galore though. Pantry is almost all pets except for tons of tide. So sad. Tick tock tick.......

Stuffing a store is what happens right before it starts liquidating. It's happened literally thousands of times.

Is everything Kmart's getting just emptying a distribution center? Aside from the toys and a few Christmas displays, it seems everything is pretty random.

At some point you have to figure that the Distribution Centers will run out of inventory available for the liquidation sales
