Thread regarding Dream Center Education Holdings, LLC (DCEH) layoffs

You Can’t Really Call This A Campus Anymore

I’m at one of the “open” AI’s, but it feels like a teachout. Ghost town. Empty offices and classrooms everywhere. Piles of junk where layed off faculty just walked away and left their c**p. Admissions has little interest from prospects. Few tours conducted. We used to be a huge campus, with two buildings and 4 branch campuses. Now only one branch is left. There’s no dean of students, no coordinator for student services, one full time faculty member for each department, and all the students are getting kicked out of housing. Many are transferring to schools that actually meet their needs. The president is rarely on campus, the provost disappears for days, and no one ever communicates with staff. Committees never meet. Accreditation is up in 2019, but there’s no word on whether we’ll try to stay accredited. It appears they’ve given up and will take federal dollars for one more year. Here’s hoping DCEH puts this AI out of its misery. Let the students find better options.

2uxs -- students have not been notified - that's bogus bs -- admin pretends to email students - but none actually get the notices - sure they email students - all the fake email addresses. Who here knows a student that got the notices?

”Many are transferring to schools that actually meet their need” that is very good to hear there are a few smart students. Most are just not bright enough to realize the collapse of Ai is eminent and just keep going deeper into debt hoping it’ll all work out.

This thread sounds like a bunch of people smoking weed. It is over. DCEH admit you made a huge mistake or maybe you needed the tax write off

Allow me to express some concerns because there's a drastic blind spot in your illogic.

When you're dealing with most students who require remedial prep before the loan dip in order to give them the proverbial snowball's chance in hell at success, even if it's DCEH sub par success, it isn't done. From the get go it's always been to sell the bill of goods, throw them into the meat grinder of failure and have the dialers find more human grist for the mill.

In financial matters you know you are dealing with babes in the woods. I live here in Florida. If some of the most sophisticated investors on the planet who live in Palm Beach could get taken by a man named Bernie Madoff, tell me how these student financial neophytes stand a chance against some of the most relentless low down used car salesmen marketeers on the planet? Stop blaming the victims. Ask yourself how financially sophisticated are you as an adult in a world where there's a snake, financially or otherwise, around every tree? And did you care about accreditation and gainful employment when you might have gone to a bonafide school with respectable graduation and retention rates, exclusive of the next keg party?

DCEH is indeed a business and nothing else and one that would have rightfully bitten the dust a long time ago if not propped up by corruption, the hapless taxpayers and the trust of the students who have always had a right to expect that people like you would have their best interests at heart.

Students good, bad or indifferent have the right to be given a fair shot at success but nothing about EDMC or DCEH has ever come close to using the ethic of benevolence as anything more than a tool, a cheap carnival hucksters disingenuous come-on to achieve an ill gotten buck for nothing in return.

To some at Ai, students are just a number, dollar sign or statistic to others they’re people who are interesting to get to know. We wish students well but they have to look out for themselves.

If you’re a student and received a notice your debt to earning ratio is ridiculous find another school (if your program doesn’t meet gainful employment guidelines). If you’re a student and have heard academic accreditation is in jeopardy why are you still here, why not find another school that has a solid reputation? If you’re a student in class and realize it’s a joke, why do you keep coming back and paying for something you don’t respect?

If you won’t look out for yourself “schools” like Ai, AU, South will take your money and give you squat in return. It has nothing to do with how much employees might like you or want you to have your best life, DCEH schools have a purpose to make as much money as possible and they’ll accept everyone who can pay.

If you have higher than an 1.0 gpa or have passed the SAT or ACT apply at a real college. Stop being lazy and accepting c-ap from DCEH, apply to other schools.

And we’ll miss you. Good luck in you degree completion and job search.

And the do the limbo under a snake, leave your conscience at the door predators like you will always be glad to blame it on someone else while you take the quick money and plan the next grift.

You're a pathetic person engaging in a pathetic con game.

“the wide eyed, unknowing students” have all been warned multiple times (accreditation issues with every campus, layoffs throughout the system and gainful employment notifications) yet continue to enroll, pay cash or continue incurring debt for high tuition (when compared to earning potential), and they have become complacent with Ai and AU.

If you want to blame someone blame the students. As long as they enroll and pay tuition, DCEH schools will gladly take the money and continue to operate.

To answer your question, as I believe it is a question, can be found in appreciating the fact that this mess was not created yesterday. EDMC and son of EDMC (DCEH) are one in the same.

The owners, management and the facilitators are all to blame for perpetrating this fraud. This proposition is evidenced by the fact that new adjuncts are being hired on with full knowledge that they are aiding and abetting a fraud. The "I have a family" excuse needs to be updated to "I don't give a sh--" about killing the egg in the nest, namely the wide eyed, unknowing students.

AI open should be a good opportunity for people working there to clean their conscience and instead of trying to enroll new studets , should be warning them to run away.
