13 year employee here = 39 weeks of pay at a Band 6. The VSP number dazzled me at first for sure. Went on a few interviews these past few weeks; most promising one said they'd get back to me next week with their decision. Ugh, worst timing! -- Decided at 11 PM-ish, after lots of discussion with family and friends whose input I value - not those, "take the pile of cash and run!" folks who don't see big-picture - to unclick the button and stay with Verizon. I had spoken with my director and she said they're letting everyone who's volunteered, go. No one will be held back and forced to stay. They will backfill the positions they need backfilled. As for me, I will continue to interview elsewhere, and if I get a great offer that compares to whatever my post-tax VSP offer was over maybe the course of 2 to 3 years, I will quit and take the new job. That's my plan.

Staying clicked. fMCI with 26 years. I've had a great career but with the constant riff's and downsizing the workload and flex hours have gotten to the point of impacting quality of life, and after the VSP will only get worse. At almost 60 yo and the generous package figure it's time to go. Thankful that I can.

@WbeGDPu-cxa. Does it matter why. Maybe people being on the bubble were looking for more info. You're just adding stress. I really hope you took it for your co-workers' sake.

".or what if you get outsourced to Infosys? After much pressure, they allowed us the option of VSP or actually ESP "

Yes, I think there is a real risk of that happening at something like the original terms (take it or get nothing). Still very surprised that they gave in, I wouldn't have predicted that. Expensive mistake in timing.

@ohx, why did you click that button in the first place then? For p**ps and giggles? I don't get the whole click then unclick logic.

What did you think that the company would clarify everything and make it easy to decide? How long have you worked here.....come on.

Unchecked here, can WFH and have many years with tons of vacation time. Just can't go back in to an office and get micro managed I can come and go as I please and have a great work/life balance. I will ride out this storm and see where I get in 6months. I would rather leave on my terms and get a great job than take any job.

@WbeGDPu-aul ...or what if you get outsourced to Infosys? After much pressure, they allowed us the option of VSP or actually ESP (since we don't have the option to stay with VZ). They made a huge mistake of announcing the two events too closely together and had to offer us the same as the button clickers due to potential lawsuits happening. The next batch of employees being outsourced to Infy may not be so lucky.

@WbeGDPu-aul depends on the level of experience required to back fill the slots of your peers. Are you a Princ Eng/PMTS or DMTS? You might have some leverage later to request a pay raise and take more time to research for new jobs next year.

8 Years in here and WFH. My whole team is near NJ, NY, and DC while I am out in no mans land. I am torn whether staying clicked is a good idea. My payout is $60k on around a $110k salary and I am currently working on some very large VES jobs. I am really good at what I do and like my job but everyone I work with has 20+ years in with VZ and is leaving.

My team has about 90% of employees over 20 years. Will the work stop after they leave? I doubt that. Will I get a raise since I am doing everything? Doubtful. Will Verizon hire more people to fill the gaps and in the process give me a promotion? Who knows.

If I leave I know Ill be hired but will have to start reporting to an office 5 days a week again and who really wants to do that.

Part of me wonders if I stay clicked will they end up not letting me go because I have under 10 years? I am thinking i should stay because getting $60k will take about 6 months and after everyone leaves I am sure their will be a ton of disorganization and downtime. If it s---s after that Ill just quit and hopefully have another job lined up by that time.

Should I stay or should I go?

Most everyone I knew clicked.

Rumors I heard (who knows) 22 - 29 Clicked.

About 1/2 of the Infosys declined (I accepted).

Some of those who clicked will be rejected and kept.

It is not going to be fun, in the new year.

They gave me $220k to not lose $100k in my pension 2019. So long.

19.5 years here and still clicked and staying that way. Last few years have been difficult with the RIFs here and there, and always wondering when it was my turn to not make it under the radar. The last few month have been extremely difficult, the environment is unpleasant to say the least, to the point of when my alarm goes off I dread the work day. This package is a good deal for me. I'm ready. Bring on 12/10 so I can see my release date in writing.

Scale of 1(stay) to 10 (leave).. I'm a 9 today. For all the reasons perfectly outlined in several of these replies. 25+ years in and hardest decision I've made in my life ti-date. Heard rumors that future severance packages may be changing to 3 months. notice with 30 days exit pay. Can't risk the potential financial gain. Interview last week, another next week. I wish everyone the best and peace for your choice. I'm striving for #noregrets.

I clicked but I still don’t know!!! Have 11.5 years of service and get to WFH. Boss called and kind of wanted me to stay, really torn as if I’m able to get another job in the next 3 months I’ll be way better off financially but most likely no WFH. Will be glad when 11:59 comes and this worry will be over!

I came in the MCI purchase with basically no retirement benefits. I have 25 years service and was hoping to retire in about 2 years anyway. This is a good deal for me.

Staying clicked. My logic is this is a great financial offer, there is a hot job market, the direction of the company is shoddy and the current CEO doesn’t have a great history or ethical business practices and integrity (questionable at best), compensation is no longer in alignment with work loads, there is an exodus of talent, the Leadership in the L&D org is antiquated and stale at Director level and above, plus no career trajectory if you are not in hub or BR. Easy decision to stay clicked.

Good luck all with your time left.

staying clicked. many factors go into this - the 3 biggest (probably) being the good economy (new job prospects), the generous severance, and the direction of the company. The latter being of real concern. It's like nothing else exists in this company except 5G, and you know the hype will probably never match the reality. Long term, I fear more layoffs. So, my thought is to take this very generous offer and call it a day. It's been a great run of 18 years here. And, having spent a little bit of time talking to people outside Vz, there is a lot of opportunity out there. Trust me, there is. I will have no problem getting at job at the same or better salary. It's good for the soul to branch out and try new things, meet new people. Good for the soul. I don't regret a day here, but it is time

nzc hit the nail on the head. I have seen that same pressure and target from Finance strictly over age and salary. It's a lousy way to treat people who have invested a career here. The bi-product of this will be no loyalty in the future and you create a culture of self-serving people instead of a team. There have been little silos created everywhere and it has gotten worse since this VSP letter came out. Everyone trying to protect their little world just to survive. I've had enough as well. Out.

I am stay clicked also. After over 30 years which I have been highly rated and highly respected. But for several years the writing has been on the wall that if you are consider of a certain age or years of service, you have a target on you at senior management level. Any and all business decision start with finance/accounting. Staffing is decided based on how much money is funded and not actual work volumes. So the more "season" a employee is usually equates to high cost. So you get the higher cost employee to leave and replace by a temporary or lower paid employee you can show a cost savings to hide other shortcomings. The new leadership vision is to have a company of AI devices and 5g managed by very small work force and a majority of contractors who they can hire and release to help the numbers. I am out of here.

Staying clicked. Been here over 20 years and was asked yesterday to consider unclicking because my group “should” be ok, but no certainties anywhere right now. Can’t make this decision that way so I asked myself some questions: Do I enjoy my job? Do I see myself finishing out my career here? Do I have opportunities for growth in this Company? Do I believe in leadership’s direction of the Company and how they are treating employees? The answer to all of these questions was “no”. Because the Company decided to put me in a position of having almost no individual information on the current situation to make an intelligent decision, I have been forced to make it as individualized as I can through these forward thinking personal questions. That, my fellow Vteamers is how I reached my decision. Time to cash out and start the back side of my career.

Morning! I’m staying clicked. For me, the writing has been on the wall for a long time. I’ve always done well and received high ratings. But, my team is in NJ and I am not. Have been told no opportunities for me unless I move to NJ. I’m a 20+ year employee and have truly loved my career with VZ. I’m not near retirement and look forward to what the future brings. Already have a job lined up for January...now I just need to get the darn official release date. Best of luck to everyone! It’s been an interesting few months!
