If we are really going to lose more than 6k people in a few months, it would be really nice if for once those people were the ones who really need to go, the true dead weight that is still bringing Qualcomm down.
Until now, every layoffs round got rid of some of our best people and left some of the biggest leeches here. Here's hoping that this year that changes.

@3kcg is right - most of the good ones are gone. Lot of rest-and-vest folks remain, waiting for their packages. Many of them are scared that they won't survive at a really technical place, while some have been trying to get out, but couldn't find anyone willing to hire them or match their inflated Q titles.

Layoffs are never surgical. Often, it’s a political and/or numbers game. I’ve seen key contributors let go while bad performers are kept. Often management has no idea what their people actually do.

I totally agree. The asspits at or above director somehow seem to retain their positions. Too many program managers still around. I would say for every employee's hierarchy cut every other position above them, and even that is too long a chain up. VPs reporting to VPs and Sr Dir to Sr Dir is a joke. The bad apples are still there
