Thanks for all you do...and for your families to have more time at home with you over the holidays and then many more days to come. That's right GEP engineering and other orgs are planning for layoffs to be announced Monday Nov 26. Something like 5-10% this round then more in March. Hey someone needs to make up the remaining ~3600 heads we are short from the original plan of 12000....

You "need" NPI funding? What should make anyone think GEP will do any better with more funding?
The integrity of all your processes is broken. Not just the management.
We need NPI funding because our OPI didn’t work very well. We not only designed and produced junk the junk didn’t match the market demand.
"HR has the managers rank their people regularly. It's part of the process HR uses to train managers."
Not true. With the removal of the performance ratings, there is no rank list of people, top to bottom. Each manager should know the relative performance of their team members though and it should be clear in individual performance discussions where people need to improve. It will still come as a surprise to some.
That may be true in some companies but when your seb tells you that you must identify 7% of your employees and tells you they are ‘at-risk’, the rack and stack is clearly for the purposes of layoffs

I hear the same thing, managers have lists and are just waiting for the Culp meetings to finish before they hit go. Now I am hearing some of those Larry meetings are being delayed, so we may get a reprieve until January.
@W81sPrq-1fze Until Power gets costs aligned with revenue today, there will be little NPI $ to spend. Engineering cost (staff) will be down in 2019 & 2020.
There is a market (and will be for decades to come)...GE is just not getting a sufficient share. Without new products, GE will not increase share. In fact, we’ll lose share. So either we commit to gaining share or go ahead and close the doors on our gas turbine business. The alternative is a slow agonizing death.
@W81sPrq-1hym You only need staff to engineer new products if there is a market, and funding to make new products. Right now there is neither.
Not fake news- they are just doing what they did last year. I believe a manager last year offered hugs to impacted employees. Maybe he is still around. Go get your hug! Unless they hit some useless “e” bands this time. He might need the hug. One can only hope!
At some point with constant reductions of your technical staff, you can no longer engineer new products. We are VERY close to that now, possibly beyond it. Looking very much like a death spiral for Power. Thanks JI...you $&*#%
gpf- go ask JLamm** whether it's true or not. His DRs have been assembling a list over the last 2 weeks and it is nearing completion. Too bad, we are now cutting into the muscle of the org and on a path of no return....
You pulled this directly from your a$$
FAKE NEWS!!!
Thanks for the info. I'll just stay in Maui a week longer. I love the sun and sand. Hey, maybe I'll see Russ there, too!
Layoff some senior E bands, they are the nimwhits that helped get GE in the mess that it is in.
Rustle up an education, you sound like a simpleton.
is GE going to make it through 2019?
You can leave at anytime why wait for a layoff make room for the people who wanna be here. Sorry you actually have to work.
