Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

Westford is (slowly) closing

Not all at once, but look for continued reduction in the coming year. WF headcount is already down by 50% and this trend will continue. JNPR has quietly been shopping the property. The recent remodeling is to make the building more salable. My partner is a commercial real estate attorney in suburban Boston.

Herndon was on the list for elimination but the Amazon announcement for HQ2 saved it.

I do not recollect layoffs in 2016. There were 2 rounds in 2017, each probably cut around 5% from WFD. I cannot figure out if there were layoffs in 2018. Lots of misleading info posted in layoff.com makes it hard to figure of who is lying and who is telling the truth.

Agree with @8goq. 50% is fake, and 5% is the management talking here. It has been 5% per round, and there have been multiple rounds in 2016-17. Overall, the cut is closer to 20-25%.

Not sure why folks are picking so much on WFD. Sometime back somebody posted that WFD will be closed down next month. WFD brings in tons of revenue for Juniper (BRAS), it is unlikely Juniper will just shut it down. What might happen is that some jobs might move to Bangalore to reduce costs.

This is false. Westford has not reduced by 50% at all. I work in the Westford and there have been some very small layoffs. 5% tops

Oh boy, that's a howler. US Fed govt is our largest customer. Bezos could move his 2nd HQ to Mars. Herndon ain't going nowhere.

What's going on with BRAS business in WFD? It was going strong up to 2016 when I used to work there. However, the product had reached maintenance mode and my guess was that Juniper will move all BRAS work to Bangalore to reduce costs. Has this been happening?

What do you mean by running a growing steady business into the ground? Layoffs aside, has BRAS revenue gone down?

So another of A As picks has run a growing steady business into the ground with favoritism and incompetence. What a surprise !

Most Westford people work from home most days and never go into office. HR should take a poll and convert those people to home based workers.

I used to work in Westford. How come headcount is down by 50%? Heard of 2 layoffs in 2017, however that just reduced headcount by around 15. How many folks were let go in 2018? Is there attrition in addition to layoffs? Also, can you clarify how Amazon HQ2 announcement is related to Juniper making the decision on its Herndon office?
