Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Throw us a bone!

Is there any executive out there that has a little heart? Throw us something to help us make a life changing decision!!! This is almost worse than a RIF, we’re basically being asked to tap ourselves on the shoulder. We already know that big changes are coming, but I’m sure these changes will impact some a lot more than others. Show just a little loyalty to those who have been loyal V-Teamers.

I'm and executive. Here's some advice. Flip a coin. Update your resume and linkedin profile. Here's the final advice: stay off of stoopid layoff boards like this to seek advice during company time.

Execs who make double/triple of your salary are not there to show you heart. They are more greedy than the person with less so they will not come in here and write you an opinion risking their $300K income

This is my opinion, if you think that your job is at risk because your projects have been cancelled or have little importance, your boss is not banging on your door lately, others in the organization are given new responsibilities that you would have had a couple of years ago, you all are big boys, you have to read the situations by now if you’ve been around telecom

Trust your gut

I personally put my name in the hat because I didn’t want to be riffed and be paid the minimum

Make simple decisions

@W1ARpq0-ull own your experience, this is not a safe space. You have a lot of nerve assuming an anonymous layoff board is going to Nerf it for you; life is suffering - get a helmet.

They already threw you a huge bone...3 weeks pay for every year there. If you have been there at least 10 years, and you have any confidence in yourself at all, take it and run.

The fact that you can say, "Show just a little loyalty to those who have been loyal V-Teamers." should probably be an indication of how much they value all of us.

The way i see it is, stay or go, at least I'm in control.

@W1ARpq0-mhw

A lot of nerve telling someone else to grow up when you’re trolling this sight making smartass comments to people who are stressed about their livelihood. F&$@ off!

I think what people would like to know is what the org alignment looks like and who is in charge. We all know the way this stuff rolls. You are a top performer and your Director ends up in a key roll then you feel pretty good. Some other Director ends up over the team and yours isn't even on the org chart and it's not so good. That's what the individuals want but you are right that at the top they really don't care. It's not even a thought.

I’d expect to a point they don’t know nor do most care unless you are their direct.

What is that you want to know? Nobody is going to tell you if you in particular will be RIFed and when. everything else you already know. Yes there will be RIFs and yes the package will be inferiror. That is the direction Hans is taking the company

I honestly took the VSP knowing that I would eventually be RIF'd. I gladly took fate into my own hands, versus going into the office wondering when (not if) it was going to happen. Now, I'm just hoping that I'm accepted and am able to move on armed with the tools that they provided me while working there (tuition assistance).
