I joined Vz a shade under 2 years ago from one of our major vendors. The elation of working for the no. 1 carrier wore off in about 6 months. Most of the work involves retouching slide decks due to a last-minute request from a skip-level manager. Very silo'd org with minimal information flow from top to bottom. Was planning on leaving early next year anyway, the 50k severance plus 401k employer match with the offer is a nice little bonus. Not yet 40, home fully paid off and no other debts means there's no real incentive to hang on. Will keep clear of the big 4 carriers going forward.

The 401k employer matching contribution portion normally has a 3-year vesting period, if you read the FAQ it vests fully under the offer.
Seems like most people here are clueless about how much band6 engineers are paid on the West Coast.
OP is #FakeNews
Go tell your fairytales to you boyfriend and save the board space troll.
There is no 401k match with this offer. My understanding of the detailed FAQs is that there is no 401K deduction at all from it.
Under 40, home paid off, no other debt, unrealistic payouts, sounds like stupid BS from the new generation. Good luck in your future of job hopping with no security and no pension.
You need to use a STI target of 20% in your calculation, net amount then easily exceeds 50k. I am involved in vendor and project management, but it basically boils down to PowerPoint engineering.
simple math says that 200, 000 gives you 24,000 for STI and 21,538 for the 5 weeks. eben that is 5,000 short of 50,000.
I doubt you have 200, 000 for the work you described. if you really have then it is obvious what's wrong with VZ.
OP here, it's actually 5 weeks pay + 100% STI, am band 6 on the West Coast.
I was in the midst of calling you out on this BS as well OP until, right before I hit submit, I saw @zqb’s cogent response.
OP, you’re either a troll or you’re an agent of the dark side, trying to manipulate the youngsters into thinking simething untrue to maintain your gig.
2 years package would be 6 weeks pay plus bonus. No way you get 50k for that.
