GRC is Hiring

Yup that's right folks, as GEP suffers through bad times, and employees get no raises for years, GRC is on a course to hire 20-30 engineers to work various programs. Get out your resume's and jump aboard the cruise to nowhere!

@Vgu8xHz-2uav If we were a rich company with extra cash, we should keep GRC and allow them 100/1 failure/win ratio on their research projects. Hi risk high reward. if they manage to come up with something like this http://blog.ipfolio.com/10-patents-that-launched-billion-dollar-empires every once a few years, they will already contribute something of value to the company.

Do they have won in Atlanta??

@2eig Knowing that information is only good so far as to know what materials and coatings should NOT be used. By the way, gas turbine customers know what alloy and coating system they are getting in each component already, as that is part of the marketing scope. I've seen nothing posted here that isn't already public knowledge, and I encourage everyone to keep it that way.

I hear GRC is preparing to sell their gas turbine technology to the highest bidder on the open market, basically putting GEP and GEA over a barrel in a cruel catch-22. Either pay GRC for their tech and lay off their own employees, or GRC will sell the tech to the higherst bidder, MHPS, SIE, Pratt or others. Seems VA will do anything he can to show a profit from the center!!

I'm with 2bro... Between the different threads on this issue, I've seen the material, the coating, and the failure mode mentioned. The reverse engineering shops hoping to sell replacement blades greatly appreciate that information, I'm sure.

He didn't. He just used the technical lingo of those in the know, mostly. No new information was provided.

Just a current low level GE employee here with a request. I understand the frustration of current and former GE employees, but please, please, please, please don't discuss internal/non-public matters that are not directly related to confirmed layoffs on this forum.

Thanks!

2raf- that's right, for every supposed victory GRC has given the world, they have under-delivered on at least 3. Just look at all the fiascos related to materials and most of them were born in GRC labs.

@1cju Does that include the 7HA S1B with the stress assisted gamma prime oxidation failures?

1cju - sure keep believing the fairy tails and enjoying the smoke being driven up your rear. There is no engineering software that can't be duplicated commercially with much lower committed costs. As far as GEP being worse off without GRC....chances are we'll see about that shortly.

1utq- right on. Those days when GRC bought the services of the worlds best talents is long gone. Anyone looking at GRC either recognizes it is a 3 year job at best, or just isn't bright enough to do the research. In any case, good luck getting them trained up on the awesome GRC proprietary internal codes and useful in that timeframe.

GEP future will be much bleaker without GRC. Some of the next-gen advanced tech is being developed at GRC, and every single turbine and compressor blade for power machines was designed using software developed at GRC, but y'all are quick to blame it for your leadership failures because this is a 'division that makes no money,' as the genius @1vlp below put it.

Over 80 open positions at GRC. only people stupid enough will join GE at this moment. I know external candidates were offered jobs, but only used it to negotiate a better offer elsewhere

A number of open positions does by no means constitute a corresponding level of hiring activity.

I hear he has been advising some of them to get out of their comfy pre-retirement chalets and return back to the businesses (ie Power). Just saw that MD had returned to his position as a do-nothinger in the product line, and that KL may not be far behind!
