Make a prediction and tell us what you think about AIG Layoffs in 2019 -- Thoughts??

They are looking to outsource everything. They do not want to pay for talent and experience. They have lost so much experience it will be hard or almost impossible for them to recover. How is the company suppose to grow when they are not writing any new business.
RIF'd... miffed, yet all the signs were there. Most of us just wanted to hang-on until the Bonuses were to be paid out. Not everyone got them depending upon if it was in their FTE contract... The metaphor is simple... "Alice in Wonderland"... Top management with big teeth will "Grin F^%K you" and flat out lie to you about the direction, but make no mistake, this is outsourcing and off shoring at its best... Most of the plans include breaking existing contracts with application vendors because AIG didn't invest in its people to properly utilize the products. Some products like Bladelogic were discontinued to try and save money, but the replacement product "Tanium" doesn't cover the full environment and never will... Stupid management decisions, poor analysis, and top management doesn't have a clue. Karma will take care of the incompetent management, Hopefully enough members of Congress are watching this and will NEVER bail out or support this company again...
Yes IT was layed off this week. 60 people so far. Update your resume just incase.
Hearing IT is being outsourced? How true is this rumor, anyone else hearing this? Should people in IT start to look out?
Thus far no RIF @ KC SS may have dodged a bullit for now depending on your point of view it’s very unclear & unpredictable anything that could happen is very plausible @ this juncture folks indeed have become weary & tired overworked underpaid overwhelmed system issues are an every day occurrence lack of direction & leadership & the aforementioned maladies has tanked morale guess that sums it up
What is SAP?
Folks are anxiously watching & waiting for the layoffs to come calling once again in KC any word out there what areas will be hit in KC TY
Big one happened/happening from now till Mar/8. Lot's of resources from SAP unit were let go today. Sinking ship.....No hope to revive
Would anyone out there know how many people are employed in KC SS Olathe KS what the current head count might be - we’ve seen our share of RIF’s have lost nearly half of what once was a thriving environment & many are expecting more layoffs are coming anyone have any specific insight regarding KC SS there has been some chatter about possible outsourcing of many processes in Olathe KS possibly going over seas & talk of WC losing $ & what might happen with this line of business appreciate any thoughts ideas insights into these aforementioned issues TY
Yes, I have heard NY is going to take a big hit.
Look for big layoffs in NYC by end of March. Claim counts are way down all over and written premium is the same
As has been posted on this site suggestions have been made regarding possible break up of AIG also mentioned has been selling less profitable aspects of AIG such as WC does anyone have any idea if these are plausible concepts can anyone say if AIG share holders are driving the company in any particular direction to any particular end there seems to be either a wanton desire to scale back AIG overall in anticipation of such events or a complete ineptness as AIG seems to be in free fall
So purposefully scaling back thinking things will turn around which is doubtful or
Just ineptitude @ the top
Appreciate the latest information regarding imminent lay-off maybe KC SS Olathe will he spared from the carnage although there seems to be some with little to do not getting much work & not seeing any new tasks to process it’s been going around that workers comp is hemorrhaging $ big league so many are not sure what’s going to happen in this particular area & line of business most are resigned to the fact that @ some point WC is leaving either overseas or to TPA’s any thoughts ideas from anyone thanks
My take. It will be a big cut. My source has seen the list. NY and NJ will get hit hard. Japan as well. Some folks bristle at the disclosure, but people deserve to know what's going to happen. If you aren't busy, been asked to document your role in detail, are cut out of meetings, not getting new stuff to work on, assume you are a target. Update your resume, refresh your contacts and LinkedIn profile, and get registered on Indeed.com or other reputable site. Big push to outsource as much of IT as possible as part of cuts. I wish the company were more successful and wasn't going this route.
One thing about AIG is I knew my boss was getting laid off before he did. Nobody can keep their mouths shut.. No matter how much they think issues are being kept a secret they are not.
this goes out to Post ID: @VT1whrW-1Qxsx
Do you know that layoffs are coming & if so do you have an inside source or inside track or connected with someone or some folks inside of AIG not doubting that job cuts are actually coming but trying to find out more about them does anyone know whether next round of RIF’s will be across the board worldwide will they be hitting US sites say Shared Services K.C. maybe certain lines of business targets any further & pertinent information is certainly welcomed if available TY
Are there really big layoffs next mo? How credible is this info? Whenevever co gets a whiff that mass panick over big layoff rumor is happening they spread them out. Like that changes anything!
AIG is not a well run company. There are some very good people working there, but not enough to offset the incompetent senior management, who feather their nests while firing lower level people. Contractors seem to outnumber FTEs, especially in technology. Big cuts coming in March. If you work there, actively look for something else as a hedge, because they are going to be based on targets arbitrarily set, not on poor performers.
Layoffs will end when no one over 40 is left except the execs because the rules dont apply to them. Word is the young folks are fleeing in droves. And move to midtown is done deal. Stay tuned for more layoffs to shoehorn whoever is left into dehumanizing sardine can cubes. More people will leave who needs the aggravation. The never ending rifs restacks reorgs repeat!
Totally agree. Boot just enough oldies to skate under radar.
Age is definitely a factor. I was with AIG 28 years. At age 62 I was let go 4 months ago even though my performance exceeded expectations and surpassed my younger peers. They always make sure to sprinkle in enough younger newbies in unrelated areas to disguise what they’re really doing.
Well another quater of losing money. It's always some excuse from management on what we did not make money. It still appears that they can not set reserves right. Adjustments were made this quarter again.
Ones age is a factor there is without question discrimination against ones age that’s a known fact
It is trending up.
McKinsey has increased headcount on target.
Expensive unit-cost cost centers such as HQ to see the most.
big one coming in ... Q1
As was posted earlier on this particular thread the morale is at all time low in Olathe SS i certainly agree that they have cut so far it’s a skeleton crew at best - so jfolks thst have been RIF’d already - and let me say there are countless numbers of them we probably don’t know the half of it but it leaves holes gaping holes now thst work is being dumped on others who have little knowledge of what they’re being told to do it’s a shame let’s dance 💃 out the front door any door together thanks
Make no make about it layoffs in 2019 will keep coming through most of the year. This was also made clear by the last town hall meeting. AIG is a company in transition and restructuring all over the company They are not writing the business that was previously written and claim counts are down. When claim counts are down they do not need claim adjusters and support. Big rumors for layoffs in New York claim departments coming soon.
Hold on. Happy New Year and yes there will be many many more RIF's in 2019. The Workers Compensation will be going through a restructuring and you are going to see RIF's and with all services that contribute to the WC Claims. It's coming so be prepared.
15 years of service in Olathe, seen it all. Now we are a skeleton crew...understaffed =overworked and underpaid! This place has made us mentally amd physically exhausted. Hoping for my severance soon so I can dance on out of there!
It's no secret about 1st qtr 2019. They probably waiting to see how the 1/1's look and then PZ will give the order to start riffing.
Given a seventy year old CEO and very poor Managers (most of whom have never managed before) I will predict the layoffs will continue.
Prediction is that 2019 layoffs have not stopped and will continue through 2019. Not sure the number but the town halls have been clear about this
Depends on where you are located in Technology. Morale is poor. I know they have been going at folks with high comp who aren't managing a group. Already having to hire vendors to replace riffed FTEs, which actually costs more $ in most cases.
That sounds very accurate if they keep on loosing money. In just the last two weeks they lost 10 Billion in Capitol. What does that tell you.
They already said in the 2nd qtr town halls that layoffs or a reduction in force would continue through 1st quarter 2019. Now I am predicting it goes at least into 2nd qtr 2019
