Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

I'm OUT !!!

After Decades of being with this company , I am OUT. Like a bad marriage . Oh sure, it started out ok . The courtship , honeymoon phase , the mutual cooperation , then the days of the neglected spouse taking advantage of you as you try to play by the same rules and they just use you over and over again. Well the divorce settlement came through and I am OUT.

Remember ENRON ? . Remember how the economic world was so surprised that could have happened ? I do . "Never again" we would say. Then the same scenarios started creeping up in the headlines, EDS , Nortel, Sears , and a whole lot more not mentioned.

The talent is not the institution . The talent are the people . Its not a tag line or a political selling point. Wether we are officially organized or not , we still constitute the true talent of a company . The company is just a shell . Lets not play the shell game any more .

UNIONIZE TECHS

It won't stop the fall of a company , but it will give protection to those that do require it , when they most need it. If anything, it will at least give a comporting thought that you are NOT alone. To those that feel otherwise , keep drinking the kool-aide. To those that feel its time to unionize this industry , lets talk - lets act

Look at the benefactors of long hours of work, poor pay, obscene oncall and overtime rates, stress, anxiety, p1ssed off clients - workers at DXC suffer all of this whilst the clueless bosses at the top of the food chain rake in the big bucks and issue WFR notices to the workers of DXC. Where is the justice and democracy? Clearly not on the coalface. Where is HR in this mess? Clearly only listening to Mikey while making low-pitched grunting noises at workers.

If you are WFR'd then accept it and run for the hills. There is a HUGE life outside of Club Toxic (aka Don't Xpect Compassion). Last year I was WFR'd from DXC after 20+ years of loyal service and high performance. My superiors said that my role would disappear (total bollocks) but I was replaced by 3 Graduates that were clueless in the digital economy and only 1 of them remains at DXC today. The other 2 Grads quit when they realised that I was telling the truth.

Meanwhile all bow down to Mikey (and drop your pants).

Your post could have been written by me! We are totally at the same frequency.

during my last performance reviews (which were good, by the way) I always felt bad. I told my managers, sorry but this is like a relationship - and for the moment we are married out of convenience! I am still here as I am a single parent with a house that needs to be paid and 2 kids studying at the university - So I am not in the position to go out. But you are misusing me for a long time now - in a high position - lots of responsibility, lots of risk, and long hours, but without the salary and level that should go with it. I have often suggested if there would be a WFR, they could put me on the list. But I did not got it.

Last year, they were really looking at volunteers to leave in the country I was working for. So I send a mail to the external person requesting what the conditions would be? I was invited for a meeting. And instead of getting more information - I was sacked on the spot and guided to the door immediately - no WFR package just the legal minimum.

I admit, I was shocked that day. But it was the best thing that ever happend to me. I feel such a burden falling of my shoulders. I am now working hard to get my own company up to its feet. I really am suprised how depressed working last years for HPE/DXC made me. I am suprised how happy life has been last year. It is like you are on a boat that is sincking... where the captains are only putting the life boats down for themselves... and there are only 2 options - remaining on the ship - working hard for nothing - until it takes you down in the deep, or jump in the cold water and swim - trying to safe yourself

I was maybe pushed a bit - due to my financial doubts with the kids - and was pushed to jump out.

But I have to say - I will not say "THANK YOU" for the push, because when DXC pushes it really shows their true face, and it is ugly - Freddy Kruger looks like a pet compared to DXC. Do not let yourself used to the bones - DXC is a sinking ship!

the uk unions rarely do anything so are not worth joining, along with the dilution of employment rights in favour of the employer.

Glad you got out and enjoy your life, there is a real big life outside of hp/hpe/csc/dxc .... i left march 2017 and am much happier since leaving.

@voqrh5L - great post! Past life I worked for HP/Agilent. Parent Co. was awesome place to work. Spent 15/2 years respectly both companies. As all know, Non-Union. Then the chopping block came., Maxwells’ Silver Hammer ....Blood-N-guts. Now I’m in a union (non-tech), Gov work. My oppionion- its a $ grab. Seems like management against the line-staff. Had a strike few years back, management played hardball, threatening strikers, when ALL Sid and done, management pretty much received similar benefits that we picketed for. Doesn’t say a lot for cohesiveness/teamwork! is it better to be unionized., I wanna say YES. Best to all.

Well done also...now we can sit on he sidelines and watch this absolute Sh1tH0le of a company dissolve into the abyss. Start selling your shares Lawrie, before they fall to nothing!
