Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Lousy weekend ahead

Being pretty certain that we are nowhere close to the end of these layoffs, for once I'm truly not looking forward to the weekend.

Instead of being able to relax and recharge for the next week, all I'll be doing is worrying and stressing over what's waiting for us on Monday.

How sad is that?

I am a Cancer Patient that was just told they are in Remission. First time I have ever lost a job where I have options and feel great relief. Glad for what I learned. The RIF was my confirmed, as far as what I have suspected for years.

Btw I applied almost 30 job , got 5 interview, made to 3 hiring manager phone interview .

2 onsite interview . One rejection and one offer. 20% increase now negotiating for 30%

I wish I was let go this week so that I can get double pay for X weeks.

Just share some of my experience, I survived this round of lay off (our team had 4 ppl being let go) however i don’t see the future and don’t really want to worry about job security all the time, so I had actually started looking for a job seriously since late sep and i got interviewed with 3 companies so far and I feel lucky I got one oral offer this morning from their hr , I don’t know the details of the final package yet because I negotiated the compensation during onsite interview, they are working on a new proposal I hope they will accept that as their group head seem really like me.

Anyway just want to give ppl more confident in US the job market is not bad and tr experience definitely still very marketable despite all the negative part we discussed here.

Good luck everyone!

And now for some tough love...

Holy cow man.... get on with it. You are already laid off, its just a question of when. Face the facts..

However, you cannot start feeling sorry for yourself, and lose confidence. Figure out what you could have done better, and get the faq out of there. What the faq are you waiting for? TR is a dead duck

Being passive and whiney wont get you anyplace. Stop sitting on your arse

This weekend make an escape plan, polish your CV and send out at least 2 per day every day next week...

Exactly as mentioned above you cannot control any of these decisions ... Fate will

Life is full of these events and anyway in a company like TR now BS or whatever.. Your job was never secure not with these fools leading.. I would not trust them Running a bath let alone a company or a department..

So you should not allow them to enter your mind and leave negative thoughts ..

Take it as it is and just look out for yourself use them as they have used you for all these years and make the most of it

You never know you might be better off without them after all.

It ain't easy, but the best revenge is living well. Poke at your resume and other opportunities elsewhere, if your mind won't let you enjoy the weekend. You can't fix a situation you don't control (TR + Refinitiv), but you find happiness in other places in your life. Don't give 'em any more than they pay you for - they don't pay you to suffer, they just don't care if you do. End of the day, very few people do care about your pain, so find and appreciate them.

I know this is all easier said than done, as I'm not able to follow all my own advice either.

Never mind all that, as we just heard in the "Town Hall", "none of that is important, the only thing that matters is Service". I know worrying about Service will be the only thing keeping me awake at night.
