AI students get warning about gainful employment

A few students who transferred to one of the open campuses reached out to me over the weekend with a letter they received from DCEH. It says their programs did not meet gainful employment standards and in the future if the program continues to not pass these standards they may lose access to federal student grants and loans. It recommends that the students find other ways like private loans or pay cash for their classes.

Then in some amazing double talk it says these rules may not apply to non-profit organizations. "DCEH has applied for nonprofit status with the DOE but it is still pending." ( Funny they promoted nonprofit status for nearly a year before our campus closed). How in the world can anyone expect these students to focus on their studies when terrible news keeps hitting them left and right? They have lost friends, housing, faculty, staff, Chairs, Deans, their campus and maybe even the ability to finance their education. And from what I hear at the open campuses this pattern is starting to repeat.

It is terrible how poorly DCEH has treated these students who remained committed to their programs and willing to upend their lives to graduate. The Art Institutes are bobbing like the Titanic just before it sank. The brand is so damaged and the assets stripped away. Isn't a total shut down of all the campuses likely in 2019?

If you were a student and received a letter stating unequivocally that your earning to debt ratio was for sh--, wouldn’t you just leave, now?

But no, this goes back to the much despised “The students ain’t all that bright” statement.

Instead they’ll buy the b---s--- that Ai will one day miraculously be a nonprofit in the eyes of the DOE, gainful employment will be waived and they can continue to borrow as much as they dream through federal financial aid. A life of debt and servitude awaits to your debtors.

Any students on this site? The best advice anyone can give you is wake the f--- up and realize Ai is a scam not a school.

If you need a reference for a legitimate college, just let any of your instructors know.

What I don't get is that if they spent as much time with the TLC part of educating the unprepared they wouldn't have to rely so heavily on the devious, money for nothing, con part. That's pretty obvious, right? And the kicker is they could still get access to the loans.

But I suppose with these types of sociopaths, being anywhere near benevolent is not as much fun.

But you have to laugh out loud when they fall back on the same old poo c-ap that "everyone has a right (or some such nonesense) to an education" and "who are you to... blah, blah blah" when their track record is so statistically pathetic.

So it's really not the con part that baffles me, it's that DCEH doesn't seem to be very good at it. Maybe they should get a Nano Certificate in how to properly run a confidence game,

I have to agree they aren’t that bright. All it takes is a google search to see the bad reputation. Wouldn’t you do that before you signed up for such an expensive school?

Gainful employment disclosures are now also back on the Ai website. Can anyone tell me when they went back up?

As I reported in May:

Although DCEH was clearly a non-profit institution, and the Department of Education gave tentative approval last September, the Department appears to have not, at least not yet, given its final approval for conversion to non-profit status for purposes of its obligations to the Department. Yet as of early April DCEH has taken down from its website the gainful employment warnings to students. DCEH staff say the company’s management made that decision after being warned by staff that it was not proper.

A long time ago someone said “not everyone is suited for higher education” and had their A** handed to them, same with this comment, “the students ain’t all that bright. Most don’t have a clue about accreditation or the importance of it. Ai students care about a degree not an education” - but it’s true.

Not everyone is suited for higher education, just as not everyone is suited to play the piano or drive a truck or be a ballerina.

I don’t think this comment was about denying anyone education, it’s about Ai admitting students who are homeless, students who don’t have the very basic fundamentals required for an online eduction such as access to the internet or even a computer!

A lot of Ai and AU students are lazy and looking for an easy degree or not bright and unable to get into respected colleges. Any bright student that may have enrolled realizes their mistake and is looking for a way out. If you can’t tell that about the student body of these schools and you don’t realize DCEH schools are just about selling degrees, then you shouldn’t be in education.

pyq I really find you totally appalling - 'The students ain’t all that bright' how dare you! -- if you are in education -- get another career - you do not deserve the ground you walk on.

They are real students - all of them - people like you have no clue about people let a lone students.

What ridiculous responses, I am sure all that anger has helped you get far in life. There are amazing grads from AI. I continue to work with several. Attack the situation if you will but not young people who are doing their best to jump start careers. Sell crazy somewhere else. We’re all stocked up here.

@VFcqhnd-pyq, you might be surprised. Have you ever spoken to Americles or some of the people in I Am Ai?

The students ain’t all that bright. Most don’t have a clue about actor the importance of it. Ai students care about a degree not an education. They want it free and haven’t a clue they have to pay it back. You need to understand your consumer, they’re a buyer not a real student. Ai is a business not a college.
