I typically wake in the morning, have a cup of coffee and check this site to see what is happening and to prepare myself for what the day might have in store for us when we get to work. It is oddly quiet on here this morning and it hit me that the site reflects many of our feelings about our new reality. Waning hope, cautiously optimistic, afraid, concerned, angry and mostly disappointed. Please.... will someone at the top have some decency and talk to us? If additional downsizing is inevitable please let some employees voluntarily take their walk and allow them to collect unemployment and hopefully severance. Third could allow those remaining to breathe a little easier? At this point, who among us isn't concerned about whether we should downsize our homes, look for a new job, stop looking to put an offer on a new home or car? How unnecessarily sad. Good luck.

Iodn... Did your father buy you the business so you could stay in the country? Judging from the lack of articles in your sentences, you are mostly likely from an Asian country or a really bad American school. You were an easy target. Enjoy paying back your loans or your rich daddy.
@V6dNqsN-1odn oh now I understand your bitterness, so you called me 18 year old 300 lb (false) you now criticize me because I own my own business.. and No, this has nothing to do with design. Which Is funny because you are a teacher related with design field (so you couldn't even start your own business) But in reality is that I figure out that the system is here to fail to students and of course "FACULTY" from this type of diploma mills are not even respected in the community anymore for your lack of ethics.. well you were just told what to teach and keep students happy without any accountability that they were not in the right school, you still kept passing students with lack of talent, if you would be passionate about teaching students you should have left long time ago looking for a real institution with ETHICS, but you decide to stay until the end (violin depressing song here) , @V6dNqsN-1dal is correct, if you have no ETHICS to become a teacher/mentor to students , then you should have tried another career , maybe working as the greeter in Walmart would be more honest, but you decided to stay with an institution NOW VERY KNOWN with very bad reputation. And I understand your bitterness now, you are about to lose your c-appy job and I assume you are over 50.... yeah.. is bad... Good luck
Oh PS. Students have so much evidence of your inflated graduation numbers and statistics and so on that finally we will see justice against DOE and DeVos, we will have another change to start again... You on the other hand.. well, Lets see how your potential employers see your EDMC/DCHE "credentials" on your resume... OUCH
Not as simple as not doing home work and signing on the dotted line. These fraud schools that graduate and retain virtually no one have layers of sophisticated deception devices built into them. And they have all the lawyers and all the physical trappings of respectability to intice the trusting and inexperienced, including the notorious abitration agreement which is their fraud get out of jail free card. With this in place the truly aggrieved student has never stood stand a chance.
But this country has a history going as far back as the Land Grant Act of 1862 and sponsored by the federal government to help the states create legitimate colleges of higher education. The University of Florida and MIT are two of them among over 105 legitimate schools. These schools provided and continue to provide the regular folks with solid educations at afforable prices that heretofore was the exclusive domain of the rich and privledged like the id--t Donald Trump for example.
So with over 150 years of what I would call educational benevolence coupled with some really great educators this unintended consequence paved the way for the many bad actors to set up shop by coopting the good will and prestigious ethos of real schools only now to shape shift as kinder and gentler non-profits by inexplicably mixing the sacred with the profane. This was and is the heart of the DCEH business plan and it truly defines what institutional evil is.
So I can guanantee you that despite doing all the homework in the world some of the most financially sophisticated people in the world have likewise been taken for a ride by the weasels among us. The really sad thing about this is that companies like EDMC and DCEH have killed many of the sitting duck student fledglings while still in the nest and that is unforgivable. I know they wouldn't want their friends and relatives to be so abused. But then again it requires a conscious to care and the lack thereof is what defines them as sociopaths.
So other than financial ruinment, if that wasn't bad enough, DCED has taken away from so many the notion that even an organization that purports to be a Christian entity continuously lies to all and does not practice what it preaches. No news there I suppose.
But that my friends is the very essence of a confidence game run by an incredibly bad sub species of people who purport to be humans.
Homework completed and submitted.
If you have only heard of “Catcher in the Rye” as it relates to pop culture then you are the typical student of DCEH... so sad. Most likely didn’t graduate from high school and are a proud holder of a GED. Face it .. you are debt because you made the decision to “sign on the dotted line” without doing your homework. You have no one to blame but yourself.
@V6dNqsN-3efr Oh, well. Wasn't that the book that inspired Mark David Chapman to kill John Lennon?
Keep up the psychotic literary drivel. Makes you absolutely sound like the stupid b--tard you are.
@V6dNqsN-2fli My mom the president of SU WPB? Incorrect MFer!
But what's this I hear about YOUR mom being fired from the spermatozoa bank for drinking on the job. The president of SU WPB, who was moonlighting as a primer boy, said there was no doubt as to HER gulpability or was it her guillability. Anyway they said it was all her fault.
@V6dNqsN-2pjc - You are pretty funny. Grammatically, your post says nothing. I'm sure you don't read books...but try Catcher in The Rye.. Yet even though Holden is right that people are phony, Catcher in the Rye makes it clear that Holden's hatred of phoniness is still self-destructive. Though Holden is constantly pointing out the phoniness in others, he is himself often phony
Thank you for the brillant assessment that attributes all the concerted wrongs by EDMC and DCEH on the "gullibility" of students, and now, belatedly, many apologist faculty.
I would call you a stupid, MFing jack twat but in your case those terms would be an understatement.
Are you sure you're not the president of SU WPB?
@V6dNqsN-1ihi- By the way, Radio Shack has gone out of business in most states and Costco pays a really good wage. As the saying goes.."there are no small parts, only small actors". You chose the 80-100K debt because you were so gullible... don't blame others
@V6dNqsN-1dal- You obviously did not see the result of their "education". Maybe more students would have made the wise decision to leave after a quarter or two if people like you committed to education gave them a reality check on life outside of the classroom. You are still drinking the koolaid. There were some good programs that provided great careers, but there were a lot of ridiculous dream programs and admissions brought the wrong type of students into these programs. A mother of 3 in her 40's should not think she will be the next Oscar winning director. It just doesn't work like that. It is nice that you like what you do, but the reality of life is that you work to pay the bills. You make smart decisions that won't effect the rest of your life. You have to be the religious admissions person I knew that kept her "head in the sand" and thought everyone would be a star. Sorry... that is not life. If you are still working at DCEH you need to tell your students the reality of their commitments. If you don't know their program, educate yourself. So many of them should have been gone a long time ago. Culinary, Graphic/Web, Interior Design and maybe Fashion Marketing are the only programs that have jobs but the fat cats kept the s-xy programs to keep the income coming in.... don't drink the kool aid... go home, have a glass of wine and leave this horrible place.
@V6dNqsN-1str-Never worked there but have worked for over 40 years (even cleaned toilets when I was 15) and am comfortably retired now. Must have hit a nerve. Own a business... let me guess, if you were an online student, you are either building really poor looking "l990" websites for unsuspecting small businesses or consider doing an occasional illustration a "business". I never disputed that EDMC/DCEH were criminals and since I wasn't a part of the admissions process, I only had to work with what I got. This is where you come in... you are an adult and made the decision to sign on the dotted line. Unfortunately, everyone does not get a trophy
I really hate it when I read 'obvious faculty' dogging students -- people like you should never be an educator. I've been here for 15 years - and have not found anything of what you say to be true and even if it were close -- then why did you not find a way to help them. Stay out of education and leave students out of your tirade.
@V6dNqsN-1ihi hahahaha so that means yes! Sorry I responded late I was at the Gym and now having my lunch... So You worked in RadioShack! Or maybe Cotsco?
Thank you for your response. This will be everywhere on social media like glassdoor, yelp, google, instagram, twitter, facebook. I think i will even pay facebook adversting Promos!! Oh btw i have my own business now , thats why I have all the time of the world to raise awareness about crooks like you. Have a wonderful afternoon at your cubicle (like a lil mouse)
@V6dNqsN-1yxs- You were an online student. That says a lot. The entire online program is a joke. Not one portfolio would be marketable in my city. I think the majority of students that take online classes just want to hide from the real world. There are plenty of reputable evening on ground university programs. You wanted to sit in your bedroom basement and draw busty women or maybe you were a veteran that already has 3 kids before you were 30 and now thinks he will be a filmmaker. I no longer work at this horrible place, but at least half of the blame is on you for making the mistake of signing up. I hope you get your money back but you should have been wise enough to know 2 quarters in that the education was a joke.
@V6dNqsN-thn hahaa yeah right, I have proof of what I am saying, how come the so called "professors" would pass students with 3rd grade art skills, they had no clue about design or color theory. No i am not a gamer, but guess what? a reputable INSTITUTION would NOT accept anyone without a portfolio .YOUTUBE classes from AI ONLINE, I have evidence of all this and I am using it as part of MSCHE Accreditation process, what about your 10 points extra just for answer a c-appy survey, I have proof of students low quality work in sophomore class .. how did they even got there? oh yeah! They were passing classes no matter what (again those juicy loans) !! and the "professors" passing classes (superior orders???) HA you think you are dealing with a 18 year old gamer here? or what about the Career Counselors expert on the field? that looking by their profile in LinkedIn you can tell they had not clue about the field and just would send you emails with job posting from craiglist. do you want me go on? what about the so call financial counselors? that were just students working along you crooks? want me keep going? Dont worry, thanks to coordination with thousands of students we are crumbling this pyramid scheme, social media is an amazing thing you know? Many students have drop out as soon as they are enrolled, or when they post their "acceptance letter" WE alert them about the LIES that you guys have been telling many others for years. So try again. Tell me where did you work before AI (DCEH) (EDMC) Radioshack? LOL ....
So, can anyone recommend a good resume building website? Writing is on the wall and I need to start my job search now. My emotions are all over the place, from sheer panic at the thought of losing my income, to hopeful that I'll end up in a better place after my seemingly inevitable layoff.
I'm not sure how young or old most of you are since time is each individual's most valuable asset. I also know desperation to merely earn a living or develop one's knowledge base can sometimes as it turns out make fools of us all as it likewise promotes, innocently enough, inadvertent bad decision making. But the sociopaths see that coming a mile away and use it to their own advantage every time. Tip off #1.
So students and instuctors finally have a lot in common. Both ultimately made poor career and educational decisions based on promisises, lies, incomplete information and blaming the mark made by self proclamed but stealthy quasi educational institutions and their conscienceless pawns vacuously modeling themselves on the legitimate hallowed halls many of us may or mat not fondly remember. And all incomprehensibly fueled by easy money with few strings attached by greedy con men who as a hallmark of their kind constantly complain about accountability when graduation and retention rates make it clear what business they are really in. And still while simultaneously faulting students for the lack of their accountability in a disingenuous attempt to bolster their own legitimacy to promote their sick and perverted version of bizzaroland acacdemia.
So I believe some of the salient thread highlights so far may be in synopsis:
@V6dNqsN-vhx - Make your own way, if talented. You don't need a con to tell you a thing.
@V6dNqsN-uml - Explains the sad psychology of why so many allowed themselves to be used and abused.
@V6dNqsN-wjo - Alludes to the real job market as being "sh--ty." Very few living wage gigs here with wages adjusted for inflation at decades ago levels and few paltry benefits, if any.
So next time someone says "I'll take care of you, don't worry about that" run as fast as you can or better yet lock and load. As the song goes, "it's a hard way to find out that trouble is real."
The absurd thing about all this is that the weasels always think they're bullet proof--- so to speak. Their time will come though. Of that I really have no doubt.
@V6dNqsN-dlx- Let me guess... you were in the Game Art and Animation or Audio program? Did you do your homework before you decided to get so far in debt? Most likely you did not. You barely graduated high school or had a GED. In my many years at an AI I saw that those in programs that had jobs- got jobs unless they had horrible portfolios. A C portfolio- is horrible. Gamers just want to play video games or draw pictures. There are no jobs doing this. Audio people wanted to work in a studio... guess what? Studios don't hire entry level people and only employ 2 or 3 people full time. If you are in Fashion Design, Interior Design or Fashion Marketing and are 300 + lbs... you may not be able to compete in this field. I don't work at AI anymore, but I don't feel sorry for all the students that "signed on the dotted line" and did not do their research. No one else would take you and it was a "long shot". Some make it.. some don't. There are Anthropology majors at the local university that are in the same situation. Grow up and be realistic instead of going after some ridiculous dream
well said!! they are proud to have been part of the scam, shame shame... KARMA
"could allow those remaining to breathe a little easier? At this point, who among us isn't concerned about whether we should downsize our homes, look for a new job, stop looking to put an offer on a new home or car?"
Do you know how many graduated students cant afford a new home, a car or start a family because are drowning in debt because this "schools" they graduated from (where you all people work) only lied to them to get those juicy loans from each student. Poor curriculum, equipment, bad instructors and administrators, many students have committed s---c-de, because not just cant find a JOB FOR WHAT THEY STUDY FOR BUT ARE DESTROYING THEIR LIFES.
s--- it up, your tears taste so sweet...
I work at a campus that is closing in 2018. I am staying to support our last grads. I owe it to them and it also gives me a sense of closure with our campus. I have no regrets and happy to of played a positive role in so many student's lives. I encounter grads regularly and it is wonderful to see their successes. I was disappointed when EDMC was purchased by Goldman. 40 years of quality programs at our campus slowly eroded by predatory recruiting and cost cutting. The massive greed led to our closure and DCEH was the final nail in the coffin. I doubt DCEH will last much longer, or even wants to be in this space. Have no idea why they bought us - that story has yet to be unveiled. So, life goes on for those of us that remain. We will join the ranks of others who survived EDMC.
And BTW, blaming for-profit education is too easy. Once the focus goes off building strong programs with qualified facilitates and faculty and only on profits ... the future is set. EDMC thought the Millennial money train would never end. But they were wrong and the new generation of students are savy shoppers who are better informed. What a shame our owners and board members were unwilling to plan for a lasting future.
I depend on the gullible to justify my existence.
What else do you need to know... really.. this is your reality.
Was with the company for 10+ years when I took the RIF hit last summer. They brought me back as an adjunct going from $3600/month to $1000/month (if I'm lucky enough to even have single class to teach) and not a single one of them gave a sh-- then or give a sh-- now. They immediately started treating me like chopped liver despite me pleading for at least one class per session to even attempt to try and pay the bills. I had to get in line with all the other adjuncts despite my history with the Art Institute. They don't care. Soon, you'll be gone and will be lucky if you can also make $1000/month with them. I only hold on now to this part-time nonsense, because the job market s---s so bad and I've got bills to pay.
This situation is the same as living in an abusive relationship. The abuser is never going to tell the truth or change. If you have to ask that should tell you all you need to know. Silence says a lot.
You have answered your own questions. Sad to say but this is classic bully culture. They want you to guess and not know.
Thousands before you were totally blindsided. I was an 18 year multiple Faculty of the Quarter winner who walked into a RIF without warning, losing my teaching career in an instant. Don’t expect anything but pain and loss. At least you have the cold comfort of seeing the hurricane on the horizon
Your missive sounds like the pleadings of a pathetic child. For years now the writing has been on the wall and still you ask for guidance from the sociopaths who could care less.
So hang in there as long as possible and continue to be the architect of tour own destruction. You'll be in good company with all the other groups of dupes who've come in contact with with these toxic m------f----s.
I was just talking to someone about the same thing. Let us know what is going on so we can be prepared for our future (our jobs and/or families). I am not saying it needs to be addressed on this site but send an email to EVERYONE so we will know your intentions and morale can be better.
