I'm just waiting to get RIF'd. I am a salaried employee and yes they work your butts off. There's also so many issues in getting your job done. Brokers and Customers want information and they don't want excuses. There are always computer issues, phones out, systems don't match, you can get reports because they updated certain systems and they can't run certain reports. It's a very stressful place to work. Can't wait to get RIF'd and I will never look back

I got flushed from AIG after over 11 yrs of service w/o warning although I had a gut hunch something was in the works. Some dept's had cuts, others no cuts. I heard my area came down to politics and if you were liked, you got to stay, if the mgr didnt like you, you got the AX. Beyond that many others were cut however. THIS is my 2nd time cut from AIG and I will never return there again. I'll drive a truck or dig a ditch before returning there. Never again. AIG is too volatile and has no loyalty to employees that have worked their butts off for them, when they want you gone, you're gone and no sympathy or a second thought given to it.

HR typically likes Thursdays for big layoffs bec/ it gives the remaining employees a chance to process all of it together on Friday, regroup and then take 2 days off, start fresh Monday.

This is not limited to AIG, but HR in general. If you laid off a large # on Monday the rest of the week is shot with water cooler gossip. This contains it to 1 day and then some time away and then back to work.

Many of the big # AIG layoffs have historically been done on a Thursday (post 2008).

UK announcement was Thursday 28th July. They choose Thursday as people need to come into work

the following day and so cannot go out and get smashed...Std corp procedure.
