Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Mass layoffs planned in DXC in December 2018 worldwide

Mass layoffs planned in DXC in December 2018 worldwide. This will be for all centers irrespective of country / location unless bound by specific customer agreement.

There is a plan to reduce the technical / IT staff by approx 60%. As per the call that happened today, the current staff is approx 110 K , this number needs to be brought down to approx 60K by 31-Dec-2018.

The letters will be handed over mid-December with a weeks notice.

The staff to be dismissed will include sales, support, delivery, build, and other internal technology teams. Process teams and non tech staff will be excluded from this exercise.

Stay safe, protect yourself, your family and surroundings.

"People are unhappy and scared"

Yes of course they are. This is the plan. The plan is make the place as toxic as you can, get as many people to leave without severance payments because thats cheaper and DXC are going to axe them anyway.

You might say this plan is not a good one, because you cannot control who leaves and you might lose valuable staff but thats not important because no individual has any particular skill that you cannot easily buy from the marketplace.

Yes, this is BS, but this is actually how DXC works.

I believe the target number of employees by DXC Y3 (2020) is actually 100k and not what this thread suggests but none the less...

We started DXC day 1 with 180,000 employees. The most likely figure today is ~130,000.

That means we have lost FIFTY THOUSAND individuals already. Just think about that number for a second, try to imagine what that number of people looks like in one place. All people with lives and families at the very least turned on its head, if not destroyed.

And for what?

This is B.S. news .... the numbers are suspect .... every IT firm engrained in traditional IT ( can’t believe its so old already!) are moving out of sunset businesses and it’s pretty normal to loose people ..... the poster has a good click bait in this .... I suppose every other old tech giant has such mud slung on different forums .... besides Big T’s psycho behaviour isn’t helping either .... so Good luck

If managers did their jobs and staffed to requirement, they never would have been in this boat.

Too many managers in the company. They are need to be fired first along with HR team which selects incompetitive members for money. This company is a goner long ago when all the managers who have no idea where selected based on ask licking and who bought the company to this state.

The numbers look large but the math is simple, double the work or slice half of the employees. Since there are no new logo wins, the only option is slice half the employee numbers. At the end of the day its just profit for the directors and top management.

The workers building the company at the bottom will get nothing, absolutely nothing.

I personally hope it’s true, then I might finally get my package, would be a good timing, and then do other interesting stuff with my life. But I am not in a pressed economical situation like many others of you.

DXC is unable to delivery quality outcomes even with WFRs having occurred in APAC, yet an additional ~40-60% reduction will only confirm that DXC is a former Tier 1 which has dropped to a Tier 2 at best. Those lucky DXC employees in Australia that are WFR'd will receive at least 4 weeks payout with their WFRs and those aged over 50 will receive 5 weeks of advance pay (both in addition to their years of service which are capped with a maximum of 40 weeks of pay). Bingo another bonus payable to ML.

60% too high a number but it is a significant reduction that is planned.. also planned is lean assessment of teams and maybe aretention bonus with 100s of conditions across some regions. Not sure why techies alone are targetted as we have a huge middle management and HR teams.. never seen such c-ap in last decade..

Highly unlikely. 40% reduction???

And if it happens , then it happens. Don't care anymore.

I am in the US with a MAX of 8 weeks severance if they decide to give it out. There is no law in my state that says they have to pay anything.

To the poster, where is your proof, your documentation. Without it, it's all water cooler bull sh--

Highly unlikely. 40% reduction???

How would they go about executing this?

Also, from a severance perspective, they would be looking at a $5 billion dollar charge - that's not going to happen.

So much talk about this in the office, even worse than on this thread.

I hope this is not true, and that this is a false alarm.

Good luck!

Just imagine how money they are going to save by not having to match the 401K plans for the people let go, if this report is true. You must be on the active payroll list as of 12/31 to get your match in the MAP plan.

This makes no sense. It’s too high a reduction. The only way this would work is if it was a precursor to a merger or takeover.

DXC (just as CSC did before it) provides PILON (payment in lieu of notice) which is basically financial compensation instead of notice period. What the company is required to do however is consult with unions and worker's councils and this Ian what takes the time and is underway now.

Weeks notice will not be sufficient in the UK where workers do still have some rights. Many of the employees will likely have a 3 month notice period as opposed to the standard 1 months notice - DXC will have to pay that !
