2018 Sales to Increase Even Further

The National Retail Federation (NRF) has announced that 2018 retail sales are now expected to surpass its previous forecast. According to CNBC, elements such as U.S. tax reform and upbeat economic indicators have now steered the NRF to predict a nationwide sales increase of 4.5 percent. The organization previously estimated growth for the year ranging between 3.8 and 4.4 percent.

Retail sales were up 4.8 percent year-over-year (YOY) during the first half of 2018.

It has nothing to do with Sears in the sense that SHC will see none of that increase. It has everything to do with Sears in the sense that it is just another indicator of how bad a situation Sears/Kmart is in when they cannot increase sales and pull a profit in better times for retailers.

@UGDBKGF-wqn Are they? Thought they were a failing company that not many people shop for and is failing despite things looking rosy for everyone else.

Of course retail sales are on the way up. All those former Sears/Kmart customers have to shop SOMEPLACE. (Make that someplace else, since they sure ain't coming back to SHC.)
