Transferring to another AI

Have any of the people in closing AIs been given a chance to transfer to one of those that are not closing? Was it even offered as an option? If not, did anybody ask?

I would have no issues relocating if my AI is one of the future ones to close, so I'm just wondering if this was even on the table.

Any educator who truly cares about what is best for the student would recommend they go to a respectable, established and regionally accredited college (do not attend an ACICS school, they are a if you pay you get accreditation and don’t have the academic standards of regional accreditors). Community and State colleges cost about 1/4 the price of an Ai, and offer far greater opportunities for a prosperous future than an Ai for graduates.

@U1uILX9-dwxf Is 100% correct.

Transferring to another Ai will just bring you heartache and financial woes

Here is another’s view on this:

“The faculty at the school nearby that is not closing are not blissfully ignorant. The school is still recruiting new students which is beyond unethical...They are never going to get the education or degree promised and will be saddled with student loan payments for years ... we refuse to do anything that will help with new student recruiting...They will never be able to finish the program they start on ground or online. The courses just aren’t available and most(I wish it was all) of the faculty know better than to participate in this by writing online classes and handing over their intellectual property for someone else to teach. Anyone who says its business as usual is lying. They are trying to milk students for as much as they can before they toss them to the curb. Oh wait, that is business as usual.” @U0ELvBs-efbg

Wake up! You will be transferring to one of the 7 remaining schools only to have it close a few months later. Don’t waste your money. And do NOT relocate even for a tuition reduction- you will get screwed. In a few months the only options will be to finish on line or just leave. The online classes (in design areas) I can not speak for GEs are awful. Many will be left with massive loans and no degree to show for it. This is not a legitimate teach out. They are closing ALL of the AIs and turning a few into job training centers so they can go after state money.

As for adjunct faculty don’t waste your time at another AI. You should already be looking for non AI teaching positions because the market is about to be flooded with unemployed AI faculty.

Don’t buy the business as usual line. All AIs will be closing. The Dream Center didn’t want us to begin with but were forced to buy the whole package. They said so in numerous articles before the sale even went through.

Is the OP a student or faculty?

It's being offered for both. HR sent us the procedure for applying for a transfer to another non closing AI. There's one about a 45 min drive away so it'll likely be flooded with both students and faculty transfers.

It is being offered and it is probably the only way for people who were in campuses that lost HLC accreditation to get their credits reaccredited.

What degree are you pursuing? If it is Media or Game Art- no matter where you go, you may finish the degree but you probably won't get a job. Ask to see the employment stats, but remember that they consider "sip and paint" a job in your field.
