Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

June layoffs

But layoffs are coming in June. Be prepared. Not sure which groups will be hit. Heard managers have been told to prepare names.

Has anybody else heard anything more about June layoffs? People seem to know that something is coming next month, but there are very little details about it. Any more info?

@TpVo6Wa-igks, the peeps at Contrail have made money and the one's that didnt make money PRETEND like they did and don't care. They think because they sit in the CTOs den, their shiit doesn't stink. If one of them has their teeth knocked off, then the whole group will work like normal people. It will happen sooner or later, or when the new born Fungible is brought home from the birthing center.

@TpVo6Wa-hryw Agree. I made those points right here, in this forum, about year back when I was still working for Juniper: about product cycle time (specifically SD-WAN and scrapping QFX 5300) and total lack of execution in a very good product such as Contrail. Thye simply did not care. At a Contrail POC the goddamn Contrail BU does not even care to respond to repeated appeals of support unless one copies RR to the email. I sh!t you not! You would expect a bloody BU to be eager to sell the product and do everything within their powers to do so. They simply do not respond!

SD-WAN BU is not that bad. BUT NFX250 has one BU, CSO has another BU. Try to do an SD-WAN project and get all of those people to work at the same time to deliver it! You will need to escalate to VP level.

The length of product cycle is a clear red flag at Juniper. Cisco bought Viptela ONE year after Juniper started marketing SD-WAN and ONE year BEFORE they had the damn product ready.

When I was looking to leave Juniper , Arista was one of the companies to I interviewed with. The hiring manager said they had hired at least 22 developers from Juniper during the first 6 months of 2017. Which software engineer wants to stay at a job where he can show only one software release in two years?! They all leave and go to places like Arista where they spin out softwares every quarter.

Everybody bashing marketing... Shipping product 2 years late (SD-WAN) anybody (QFX) anybody. Make marketing impossible. There's plenty of blame to go around.

Focus on CLOUD JNPR can supply more than just PTX And QFX into that market, high value add solutions like Contrail. RR needs to focus on what can be sold, not security which is a lost game years ago.

Funny you bring up Arista. That is actaully a very good example of how some brahmins messed up on Juniper side and threw a lot of good engineers to Arista.

Hope they clean up the worthless mid-management fat in EMEA. Cut the fat, get lean and earn the momentum back in market.

Agree that RR has failed us all as CEO.

Can’t agree that brahmins have anything to do with our failure. CEO, CMO and the PLMs as well as Marketing have led us astray. It is shame a leading technology leader has lost this battle to newbies like Arista, who are boasting through recruiters that they have never had a layoff. Is it true?

*-3mkf, To be honest SK was a much better CEO for juniper during his short tenure, and he handled the IOP and layoffs forced down through Elliot Management, with much more grace, class and dignity than the current CEO, RR ever could.

Sadly, RR has the same arrogance as his routing PLM buddies. He will be gone soon so no one cares.

Could it be someone who doesn’t want our customers to go to Arista, Arris, Brocade(extreme), Cisco, Dell, Ericsson, Extreme, F5, Google, HP, Huawei, IBM, Nokia/ALU....

Let's see... who would want a pile of scrap metal from silicon valley right? :) On the contrary, it is someone that sees value in Juniper as a technologist and wants to grow their portfolio for wireline services, security, sdn etc. The word on the street is “The butcher” is on his way... and he will be cleaning out the riff raff at juniper, in no time flat.

Look at it this way - we get a new C-suite and new (engineering, marketing, operations) leadership,

It's a win-win situation.
